  • Hollow is such an ironically befitting title. This game is empty, dull, and devoid of any quality on any level. Further to that, the game is chock-full of bugs, lazy design choices, and technical drawbacks. Whilst not broken to the point of being unplayable, it’s certainly broken to the point of being a lot more frustrating than it’s worth. It’s truly a hot mess. If you’re looking for a solid space horror, stick to Dead Space or Alien Isolation.

  • I have to say, a game like Hollow has so much potential and it could have been one the best horror games on the Nintendo Switch had some basic aspects had been right, such as the movement and combat. But what it ends up being is a game that doesn’t have many redeeming features or qualities. It’s too slow and lethargic, the display is a little off-putting after a while and it doesn’t run well playing in Handheld mode, which is a major feature of the Switch. If you’re looking to fill your horror gaming needs, put this down towards the bottom of the list.

  • Hollow, as a game, is an effective horror experience plagued by some poor goal communication with the player. It has clear issues but at its core, Hollow is a technically impressive game built on generally good gameplay. As a port to Switch, this game is unfortunately an abysmal mess. I understand that porting to a less powerful system is a challenge, and maintaining the artistic integrity of a game’s presentation is a must.

  • Hollow is an incredibly ugly game with the kind of plentiful technical issues that make it actively difficult to play. Those with a masochistic streak might derive some pleasure from its abrasiveness and its downbeat tone, but most Switch-owning horror fans would be much better served playing through Resident Evil Revelations and its sequel for the umpteenth time.

  • While Hollow wasn’t the first bad horror game I played on the Switch, nor the absolute worst, I can easily say this was by far the most disappointing of them all. There was a ton of potential that was basically wasted due to terrible design choices and wonky programming. This could have been the next Dead Space; it ended up being yet another failed attempt at bringing a potentially decent horror title to the Switch’s library. One can only wonder if a good horror game will ever show up for that console.

  • As far as space-set survival horror games go, Hollow sets the standard for a new low.
