Open-Ended Case File
It took me 7 years to finally experience this game for myself. I'm glad it's not gonna spend another half decade in my backlogs. Sam Barlow's first videogame outing isn't taking familiar trappings of popular videogame stories. Instead, it's taking its own time making something novel: a game where you solve the mystery by watching interrogation room scenarios. Its premise is deceptively simple. The layers upon layers of storytelling will have you tickle your brains. The moment you realize that something is definitely wrong here, it keeps you on your toes and this game knows how to keep you engaged by just clicking and searching relevant key words. It's not perfect. It's short and there's not much reason to replay once you know how the story goes.
