- Hellpoint is an action RPG that takes a lot of inspiration from the Souls series. While the combat is engaging, the framerate is a major detraction. Hiding the story as breadcrumbs in hard to find logs or cryptic messages is detrimental to what could be an interesting story.
Alex Orona · Mar 01, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Hellpoint is a reasonably decent sci-fi/Soulslike effort that sticks closely to FromSoftware's well-worn formula whilst introducing a few neat new tricks and twists of its own. The combat here is solid, the space station setting often spectacular and the narrative as enticingly cryptic as you'd expect from the genre.
PJ O'Reilly · Feb 27, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Hellpoint is a souls-like action RPG developed by Cradle Games and published by tinyBuild. It is an ambitious title that has incorporated a few great ideas. While the visuals, music, and sound are top-notch, the game does fall short in pacing and combat.

Kevin Chick · Aug 21, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Hellpoint is a game that’s lacking in polish, but boy, does it feel like passion went into almost every aspect of the game. The developers did their best to properly flesh out the world of the game, by adding small details and even making up a special language. That’s just one of the many details that the developers have gone to, so the world feels truly lived in. Hellpoint is being frequently patched to tackle bugs, but if you don’t mind a little bit of gristle, this game is the perfect way to spend your next 20 or so hours.
Nickaran · Aug 20, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Bad textures and technical hiccups aside, I did have quite a lot of fun with Hellpoint in the end. It has some cool ideas and a top-notch atmosphere and I love the world it tries to build. However, the shortcomings are hard to ignore and I can only really recommend it to dedicated fans of cosmic horror who are thirsting for another Souls-like.
Emil Gunnarsson · Aug 06, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Overall, I like how the character looks like the Hellraiser and the aesthetic changing when you change armor sets. I love the design locations that screams nightmare in space. I don’t appreciate the sound effects, in the long run, there is not much variety in them. It’s just pure ghoul-vomiting-sounds playing every time.
May Alturas · Aug 04, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Hellpoint is a challenging and interesting RPG in a similar vein to Dark Souls, but maybe not as difficult. It is still unforgiving though, and best played with others to stand a real chance of progressing. The online multiplayer needs some work to iron out some issues, but if you like games that pose a real challenge then this could be for you. The fact that I couldn’t find any real strategy to take down difficult enemies made this hard for me to play by myself.
Graham Cameron · Aug 02, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Hellpoint is a sci-fi Souls-like with one killer feature: local split screen co-op. The rest of the game lacks the polish of its obvious sources of inspiration, and ultimately the technical issues including a wildly inconsistent frame rate, hit detection problems, and interface glitches hold Hellpoint back from achieving more.
Paulmichael Contreras · Jul 30, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Hellpoint is a Souls-like game that is actually really close to being good. The black hole mechanic was a noble attempt at adding something unique to this subgenre of games, but it’s not enough to make up for the uninspired level design, framerate issues, boring story and dull combat.
