- With a 360 controller plugged into your PC Halo 2 for Vista is a decent, if rather dated FPS. For a game that is spearheading Microsoft's new operating system though, it's just not good enough. As a way for PC gamers to see what all the fuss was about it serves its purpose, but most people are already making plans to fit Halo 3 into their schedule.
Tom Orry · Jul 03, 2007 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Halo’s track record has been impeccable up to this point, but its first outing on the PC comes off as little more than a ploy to get users to upgrade to Vista. Halo 2 is still one of the better console shooters, but on the PC where the standards are higher, it’s not quite the standout. Hopefully the online play will get ironed out in the near future with a patch, but as it stands, Halo 2 for Windows Vista is the first real blemish on the franchise.
Game Trailers · Jun 14, 2007 Reviewed on PC - For gamers who haven't played Halo 2 yet, the recommendation is a bit more positive, but still somewhat conditional. The pacing and art design have held up well over the years as have the multiplayer offerings. Sadly, the graphics just aren't that impressive any more. Worse yet, the performance issues will keep it from running as well as games that quite frankly look better.
Steve Butts · Jun 05, 2007 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While the game has maintained a great deal of popularity on the Xbox, Halo 2 feels like something of a relic when you put it out as a 2007 PC game. The single-player campaign is interesting, and the cliff-hanger doesn't feel so horrific when you consider that Halo 3 is going to be hitting consoles to finish the story in just a few months. The multiplayer side is fun, too, but all of it feels overshadowed.
Jeff Gerstmann · May 25, 2007 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Average isn't good enough, especially when it crushes our expectations of greatness. I can't be genuinely appalled by this failing - Halo 2 is just too boring for that. And I never imagined, when pawing the yellowing pages of PCG 84, where the first dream-like screenshots of Halo were printed, that it would ever come to this.
Cvg · May 14, 2007 Reviewed on PC - So yeah. This is a sequel that definitely does not do what the original did, only better. It's too old, and too dull. Did I mention the bad music? Right. Let's just hope it's all just a temporary lapse of judgement. Oh God, please make sure Halo 3 really pushes the boat out...
