  • Groove Heaven is the unfortunate kind of game that has so many great intentions, but falls just short in every aspect. This one may serve to ease younger audiences who are unfamiliar with rhythm games into the genre, but anyone looking for depth, difficulty, or lasting appeal will be sorely disappointed. This one is short, shallow, and frankly too easy to keep anyone interested for long.

  • When I heard there was a new rhythm game coming to the Nintendo eShop I immediately sat up and took notice. I haven’t tried my hand at many rhythm games in the past, but when I picked up Groove Heaven I was quite happy with the experience. The simple gameplay mechanics and charming comic book style worked wonderfully to make the game stand out. Granted, the difficulty curve is quite steep, but that shouldn’t stop you from having some fun with it. I just wish there was a little more variation in the music. Overall, the game was very enjoyable and is definitely at least worth checking out.

  • Groove Heaven is clearly one for the kids, but even then, it's far too short of an adventure that lacks variety in its levels and music tracks. The presentation is lovely and the idea is welcome, but it's difficult to recommend this rhythm title over some of the greats already available on the Nintendo 3DS. It's better to save up some extra cash to spend on HarmoKnight in the eShop, or go with a meatier title with more diversity in its gameplay and music, such as Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.
