- It's to the game's impressive credit that it inspires such obsessive thoughts and the eventual adoption of a heartless economy. Gods Will Be Watching bleeds into your thoughts, even if the toll feels steep and caustic. The cost can feel too high, the enjoyment too strange and poisoned at times. But ... it's brilliant and different, you know? I just hate it, that's all.
Ludwig Kietzmann · Aug 05, 2014 Reviewed on PC - Gods Will Be Watching is certainly a unique experience that is unlike most other games on the market. The only problem is that other games aren’t like this because it is a fundamentally flawed game design. Rarely has trial and error gameplay been fun, and to add random chance on top is almost insulting to the player.
Kyle Hanson · Aug 05, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Gods Will Be Watching strives to be meaningful. ...the game ruins its own potential
Ben Moore · Aug 04, 2014 Reviewed on PC - This is a unique game, presented as a traditional point-'n'-click adventure title but more focused on strategy and planning instead of puzzle solving. If you push on and don't give up, you'll be rewarded -- just expect a few heartbreaking moments first.
Alasdair Duncan · Aug 01, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - A sorry case of when expectation and reality don't meet. A laudable concept let down by poor design
Joel Gregory · Jul 31, 2014 Reviewed on PC - Thought it shares some similarities with Telltale's The Walking Dead, Deconstructeam's Gods Will Be Watching isn't the same kind of game. Instead of a heavy narrative, the game is more of a resource management sim, with the resource being the other characters. When taken like that, it's a solid puzzle game with some rough, repetitive edges.
Mike Williams · Jul 31, 2014 Reviewed on PC - At the end of the day, Gods Will Be Watching is a title I’m sure to remember for some time for its many intense moments, but in the back of my mind, I’ll always ponder what could have been if they’d fully realized their ambitions.
Jae Lee · Jul 30, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The game is hard, but that immense difficulty makes surviving to the next chapter all the more satisfying. It's unfortunate that many of those enjoyable moments are overshadowed by glitches and frustrating randomized levels late in the game. Gods Will Be Watching was close to being a must-have puzzler, but it's doubtful that even the gods would have the patience to see it through to the bitter end.
Cameron Woolsey · Jul 28, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - In fact, the difficulty is something to be appreciated, because Deconstructeam clearly wants to use gameplay creatively to exert pressure on players in a certain, thoughtful way.
Phil Hornshaw · Jul 26, 2014 Reviewed on PC - The original Flash game offers an excellent taster of how it plays out, with this version upping the production quality and raising the stakes dramatically—a very clever, very different kind of adventure that will make you feel and make you feel bad, but for—hopefully—most of the right reasons.
