  • Gal*Gun Double Peace makes the jump to the Nintendo Switch fully intact and slightly undressed. Whether flinging pheromones at frisky schoolgirls on your TV or in handheld mode, the game runs well and its vibrant visuals, while not particularly detailed, still manage to pop off the screen the same way they did when it was first released in 2015. Solid performance aside, however, just how much enjoyment you’ll get out of this risque rail shooter depends on what you’re looking for.

  • Gal*Gun Double Peace is an on-rails shooter with light elements of a dating sim. The lightly smutty aspect of the game is unashamedly its big selling point, but if you get into the mechanics of playing it successfully, you can get some solid gaming entertainment out of it.

  • Gal Gun: Double Peace knows its audience, almost too well. Its entertainment factor is centred around crass perversion dressed up like a Saturday morning kid’s cartoon; and, if anyone attempts to tell you it’s a play on satire addressing the difficulties Japanese women face in a largely sexist society, feel free to laugh loudly in their face. That said, this is admittedly more of a game — and an altogether better game — than most that fall into the ecchi category. While simplistic, there’s nothing particularly broken about it, and its Expert Mode does offer a playable enough game to be mildly involving.

  • Lastly, Gal*Gun: Double Peace is just so well done in terms of execution. The movement between areas, even with the rapidly spinning camera moments, is smooth as butter and prevents me from ever feeling motion sick. When characters are talking the mouthwork really syncs well, which seems to be a step up from the Vita version. There’s a lot of animation both in game play and during minor cut scenes, and beautifully drawn stills capture sweet moments (Houdai, Shinobu and Maya as kids) and…other moments (Shinobu attacked by a tentacle monster).

  • Gal*Gun: Double Peace delivers on what it says it does. It’s a pervy take on the classic rail shooter that can be beaten in about two hours. Multiple endings and unlockables increase replay value. Enemies engage in repetitious actions and their variety lacks, but the boss fights are enjoyable. It’s the stuff leading up to them that is just bizarre though.

  • Gal Gun: Double Peace is exactly what it looks like, so you’re bound to know if this game will fit your library. Despite the evident dullness emitted by the gameplay loop’s repetition and lack of challenge, the cast is likable with humorous and charming writing.

  • Gal*Gun: Double Peace is a unique take on the on-rails shooter genre that feels right at home on the Vita. The simple controls, use of the touch screen, and subject matter fit our little niche perfectly - and despite its less than perfect presentation, it offers something that's truly fun. If I can't have a gun accessory, this is just how I want to play an on-rails shooter; good thing Inti Creates seems to think the same!

  • Gal*Gun Double Peace is certainly a title that’s not for everyone, but if those titulating screenshots get your heart going ‘doki-doki,’ you’re exactly the kind of person that Double Peace was made for.

  • I have to say, even with all that problematic content, I kind of love Gal-Gun: Double Peace not only for daring to be as stupid and perverse as it is with no excuses, but also for being one of the most content-rich and replayable games in its genre. If you can overlook (or enjoy) the cringeworthy perverseness found here, you'll find an enjoyable little shooter.

  • Sadly, the gameplay simply doesn’t hold up its end of the bargain. This on-rails shooter is too simplistic and doesn’t do a good job of keeping the gameplay feeling fresh.
