- Was it not for what feels like an overly-long period of hand-holding when you first start out and some other noted minor issues, a perfect ten would have been on the cards here. Forza Horizon 2 is easily the Xbox One’s best driving game and also easily one of the finest, expansive, and most enjoyable racing games of all time. In terms of excitement, fun, style, and a sheer wealth of things to do, Forza Horizon 2 can stand proudly up against any of the games in that list, despite the trifling imperfections that we’ve noted.
Ken Barnes · Oct 07, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - All in all, Forza Horizon 2 is a great addition to the franchise. Series physics, controls, and graphics are all present, with the addition of rain, classical music, and tons of content available. The Drivatars may need some work while in the open-world, and some of the environments look strange up close, but as long as you keep your eyes on the road, and your car, this game is everything a racing fan could ask for, and definitely sets the bar high for the racing games following it.
Ben Kuyt · Oct 05, 2014 Reviewed onRead full review - Forza Horizon 2 is hardly lacking in stuff to do, though the best events extol the driver/car relationship, either by demanding precise control, or by reminding you, once again, of its virtual mantra: "Cars are awesome and you're awesome!" ...Horizon 2 is about careening into the sunset while Beethoven symphonies blast from your speakers, as if you might leap off the edge of the Earth and straight into the arms of God.
Kevin VanOrd · Oct 03, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Overall, Horizon 2 isn't quite the breath of fresh air that the previous game was, but it's a good open-world driving game that benefits from slow play. If you're the type of person who wants to lay back and relax with a video game, you'll probably have a great time. But let me reiterate, if you're a "blaze through this game as quickly as possible" sort of player, the endless chain of races in Horizon doesn't deliver enough variety to make the trip worthwhile.
Jeff Gerstmann · Oct 01, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Forza Horizon 2 is just a better game than pretty much every open world driving game before it. I mean it. It may not revolutionize the formula in brand new and interesting ways, but it understands what it’s trying to be. It understands what all open world racing games should strive to be. If you are a racing fan, you should definitely try this one out.
Angelo M. D'Argenio · Sep 30, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - A host of community racing features will doubtlessly turn Forza Horizon 2 into a full-time gaming obsession for many race game fans. A meticulously crafted, marvelous-looking and superbly designed racer that dishes up an absolute feast of automotive madness and mayhem. Sheer brilliance through and through.
Jaz Rignall · Sep 27, 2014 Reviewed on XB1 - In some ways, Forza Horizon 2 doesn’t feel that different from the original, but its proficiencies are expressed in new ways as you joyfully tumble across wide stretches of terrain. It gets open-world gameplay right by continually encouraging you to explore, and you may climb a hill just to look out over the scenic landscape and watch the clouds roll in.
Daniel Bloodworth · Sep 26, 2014 Reviewed on XB1 - Despite Forza Horizon 2's changes, it remains true to its core concept, and for that, it's a worthy game in the franchise canon. ...Forza Horizon 2 may not be the perfect sequel, but it still delivers stiff challenges, fun racing moments, and a variety of experiences. Hopefully another few years on the Xbox One can create a clearer direction forward for the series and enable it to continue being a worthy branch of the Forza brand.
Matthew Kato · Sep 26, 2014 Reviewed on XB1 - Forza Horizon 2 is a fantastic racing game, probably the best released so far in this short-lived generation of consoles. Xbox One owners should definitely check it out. The amount of content is impressive, but even more impressive is that most of it is really fun to play. Horizon 2 starts off a laundry list of exclusive titles for MS, we can only hope the rest are as excellent as Playground’s latest racer.
Ken McKown · Sep 25, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Forza Horizon 2 is a pretty game, there is no doubting that, and when you consider that you can virtually go anywhere it is even more of a feat. The setting of southern Europe is beautiful from the Mediterranean coast to the city-like areas of Nice. New to the Forza series is rain, and not just one type of rain either as there can be a slight mist in the air, a downpour, or a quick shower.
