- It's a succinct and incredibly successful exploration of moments you'll recognise from your own life, and the way it mirrors thoughts and feelings through small gameplay mechanics makes it one of the most affecting experiences we've enjoyed on Switch, or any other platform.
Gavin Lane · Jan 07, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Florence is a moving and emotional tale of love gained and lost, and the trials of finding oneself in early adulthood. While a very short experience and light on actual gameplay, the charming presentation and strong narrative will leave a lasting impression.
Matt Aukamp · Aug 17, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It’s simply a new way to play it for those who may not game on their phone. You’re paying slightly more for the privilege (it’s £5/$6 on Switch and £4.79/$6 on PC compared to £3/$3 on iOS/Android), but it’s still very much worth it. And despite its short, singular narrative, it’s one I will undoubtedly visit multiple times. Just because it’s so touchingly beautiful.
Kim Snaith · Feb 18, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, if you are looking for a deeply emotional and relatable story about the joy and challenges of love and everything that comes with it, Florence is definitely a game you cannot miss. With its simple gameplay, lovely art, and powerful soundtrack, anybody can pick it up and find themselves connected with the story of Florence and Krish.
Joe Devader · Feb 14, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Florence is an imaginative, breathtaking, heartbreaking tale of two artists trying a love they’re not quite ready for. It’s as honest a look at the subject matter as you’ll find in a game -- or so I've been told by others who've been writing about it incessantly since its release. But as much as Florence focuses on love, I’m not quite sure it’s a fan of it.
CJ Andriessen · Feb 27, 2018 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Once I started Florence, it was hard to stop. I went from knowing nothing about Florence to knowing everything about her daily life and then about her and Krish. It reminded me of my relationships, and I'll admit it — I got quite emotional. I love slice of life experiences, and Florence is definitely one you don't want to miss.
Christine Chan · Feb 27, 2018 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Florence is a beautiful experience that isn’t afraid to tell an ordinary story. This isn’t an action-packed, heroic tale or a somber story filled with tragedy, but it still hits some of those notes in subdued ways. Florence is happy, distressing, and admirable in its reflection of young romance, and it left me with a sense of unexpected hopefulness.
Elise Favis · Feb 20, 2018 Reviewed on iOS - Florence takes a pretty familiar plot line and adds more life to it through clever gameplay mechanics and a bright aesthetic. Itâs not the most involved game out there, but the relatively small amount of stuff Florence does have to offer is dang near close to perfectly executed.
Campbell Bird · Feb 14, 2018 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Experience-centric games like That Dragon, Cancer [$4.99], Gone Home and others have found massive audiences of people who love the experimental side of gaming that focuses more on conveying emotions than they do high scores. If those are the sorts of things you're into, chances are you're going to wish Florence didn't end so soon.
Eli Hodapp · Feb 13, 2018 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Alongside the story is a wonderful original soundtrack by Kevin Penkin, combining the rich, deep tones of Krish’s cello with violin, flute, clarinet and piano. It emphasises the highs, underscores the lows, and helps the emotions that the story is trying to convey come through to the player.
