- Final Vendetta is exactly what it wanted to be; a side-scrolling beat-em-up that can sit with the likes of Streets of Rage and Final Fight. And it does a pretty good job in doing so. The graphics have a great retro feel, the music is great, and the characters have different and interesting moves. It’s just a shame it’s so hard, missing continues and lacking online play.
Graham Cameron · Jul 16, 2022 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - If you’re looking for an unabashedly old-school brawler that doesn’t pull any punches, Final Vendetta certainly delivers that much. But only the most patient of pugilists will be able to get the most out of this package.
Francis DiPersio · Jun 17, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Final Vendetta isn’t a bad game, but in trying to ape the classics it loses sight of the true goal post: the games that currently rule the roost. Even then, we’d still rather play the original Final Fight or Streets of Rage than this middling effort that just simply doesn’t feel as welcoming or enjoyable. Ultimately, if you’re a huge fan of the genre and have a great deal of patience you might get some fun out if it, but it’s never going to be remembered as a classic.
Richard Seagrave · Jun 17, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Final Vendetta does an able job of using and enhancing tried and tested formulas of the past, and is great fun for either one or two players. Its brevity is ameliorated by its single-credit format; a bold but welcome move that makes learning to clear it rewarding for all the right reasons – but it’s a setup some may struggle with.
Tom Massey · Jun 17, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It's a shame, because there's a lot I like about Final Vendetta. It's got the same feel as plowing through the old beat-'em-ups on the SNES, back in the glory days of the genre, and the music's killer. While it's got its rough spots, like uneven difficulty and character balance, this is a decent game to have around for easy-access couch co-op.
Thomas Wilde · Jun 17, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Final Vendetta wears its heart on its biceps: it’s a burly and brutal beat-‘em-up that serves as a love-letter to the 16-bit greats from a bygone era. Ass whoopins have never felt quite this good.
Sammy Barker · Jun 17, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - In Final Vendetta, there's a very clear deference to the '80s and '90s beat 'em up greats, which once clogged the halls of amusement arcades the world over. And it truly looks and sounds the part - to a degree, it even plays like something you'd find in your old local arcade. But with a poorly balanced level of difficulty, haphazard attempts at adding a couple of new out-of-place gameplay mechanics, and a Training Mode that's bizarrely locked off until you finish the game, Final Vendetta talks the talk, but it doesn't manage to walk the walk.
Richard Walker · Jun 17, 2022 Reviewed on PS5, PS4Read full review - Final Vendetta is a scrolling beat ‘em up in the classical mould with some modern sharpness and refinement, and genre devotees will slide comfortably into its challenges and appreciate its boosted retro aesthetic. It does, however, lack complexity compared to recent efforts, and fails to push the boat out when it comes to its locations, enemies and bosses. As much as it puts up a decent fight, then, it’s never quite a knockout.
Jon Bailes · Jun 17, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, this is a competent and sometimes brilliant beat-em-up that shows just how much the developers love the genre, but I just wish it could show a bit more of their creativity. Fans looking for a new local beat-em-up will have a blast though, and that’s the most important thing.
Nathan Ellingsworth · Jul 01, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Final Vendetta will be gloriously familiar to fans of scrolling beat ’em-ups from 90s arcades. This homage is tough, polished, and full of rewarding mechanics to master, all wrapped up in pixelated perfection.
