- You can’t ignore FIFA 19’s obvious and sizeable qualities. Depending on your threshold for corniness, you could argue it’s worth it for The Journey Alone, and although PES feels like the more organic, spontaneous and subtle game of football, EA Sports’ latest effort isn’t far behind it. However, the significant new features feel a bit thin on the ground this year, and that shouldn’t be ignored.
Phil Iwaniuk · Oct 12, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - FIFA 19 is overall a grade game filled with plenty of details. It isn’t a huge step forward in terms of raw graphics or gameplay, there are new licenses and a lot of game mode to try on, which would be enough for every fan to spend countless hours playing it. And we guess that’s the most important thing.
Dan N. Scarborough · Oct 11, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All that's left is to lament the ongoing absence of The Journey, which of all FIFA's modes appears the best fit for Switch--a deep, offline story playable in small chunks--and yet it's omitted entirely from the port. And that sums up the Switch version of FIFA 19: a playable, competent game of football encased in a package of outdated modes and lacking the controls and features you really want.
Oscar Dayus · Oct 06, 2018 Reviewed onRead full review - To be honest, if you gave me FIFA 19 and FIFA 18 and put them side by side in a kickoff mode, the only way I’d distinguish one from the other would be by looking who Cristiano Ronaldo is playing for in each game. Compared to its competition, FIFA 19 received much less technical improvements. It’s still a game with a mammoth-sized amount of content and it can provide players with a very good time, but its gameplay isn’t as good as PES 2019‘s in my opinion. Not to mention that the Ultimate Team is still a scam as usual. Either way, you’re fine with whichever footballing game you choose. I just know my choice this year is elsewhere.
Leo Faria · Oct 04, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - I can’t think of a single FIFA game that brought about as many big changes to the series as much as FIFA 19 has. EA has used the Champions League/Europa League license to improve the single-player experience, not to mention the use of special cards in FUT. The gameplay is finally at a point where it strikes the perfect balance between fun and realism. There’s also much more depth when it comes to customising your team, allowing you to make your squad play exactly how you want them to using the Dynamic Tactics system.
Christian Vaz · Oct 02, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - EA Sports has injected plenty of new life into the franchise with its fun take on the new kickoff mode and the long-awaited re-acquisition of Champions League and Europa rights, and has greased the wheels of a smooth machine with significant upgrades to the game engine, tactics, and its popular modes like Ultimate Team and The Journey.
John Jacques · Oct 02, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - This year, I am not letting FIFA 19 off as easily. Don’t get me wrong, I still have endless amounts of fun playing matches online and my most wanted feature, being able to play online against friends, has been added. With that being said, there are still so many features that EA is holding back for some unknown reason and, until they are implemented, it still feels like a missed opportunity. There is no doubt it is better than last year’s FIFA, but it could have been so much more.
Jamie Ward · Oct 01, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - This version might be missing modes found on other consoles, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. From the newly-added UEFA Champions League mode, to the updated online that now lets you play with friends, there’s plenty to see and do. The top-tier gameplay feels fluid and crisp, the visual upgrades are noticeable, and having the Fifa experience portable is a great feeling.
Casey Gibson · Sep 30, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - FIFA’s vice-grip on the sports genre continues – FIFA 19 offers something for everyone. From the redesigned Kick Off mode to the Journey’s conclusion, there is a lot of game here. Legacy issues in career mode leave it short of being all it could be, however, which is inexcusable given how deep and rewarding games such as the NBA 2K series have made their career modes. That said, this is as good as FIFA has ever been.
Lloyd Coombes · Sep 28, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - FIFA 19’s numerous improvements on and off the pitch mean it overtakes its predecessor as the best football game released on a Nintendo system, and it’s still a technical marvel when played in handheld mode. That said, EA’s decision not to improve Ultimate Team and Career – arguably the two most popular modes – feel like a missed opportunity. It’s better than last year’s game, then, but not as much as it could have been.
