Far Cry 6 is some of the most fun I’ve had with this series in nearly a decade. Its cast delivers strong performances across an enjoyable story, even if it’s also a fairly predictable one that doesn’t always land the bigger swings it tries to take. And despite some faltering new inventory mechanics and a handful of bizarre design choices, its creative weaponry means taking down an outpost, ransacking a convoy, or even just taking a ride with a buddy has never felt better.

  • A lot of people will shy away from Far Cry 6, dismissing it as “yet another open world game by Ubisoft”, but I won’t try to hide it, I had way more fun with this game than I could have ever imagined. I got it for the idea of raising hell on a Caribbean island with a tank and a jetpack, and stayed for the surprisingly well-written story and likable characters. Okay, and also for the aforementioned chaos you can cause with so much ease, all while listening to some delightfully happy reggaeton that doesn’t fit at all with the game’s level of violence, yet would make Far Cry 6 a lot more boring if those songs weren’t included in it.

  • It can be fun, really fun at times. But between those moments can be filled with a lot of dead air: of outpost, after outpost, after outpost- ooh a shiny new weapon!- after another outpost and so on. If you’re looking for a game to unwind, then there’s no better place to look. But if you’re

  • Far Cry 6 delivers an exciting adventure across a beautiful island. The new weapons and companions add a little more fun to combat for those that prefer to approach problems with guns blazing. The lead villain, Anton Castillo, is one of the most human psychopaths the game has had in its roster of crazy antagonists. Far Cry 6 can sometimes feel like a cut and paste of Far Cry 5 but the experience is still a well-polished barrel of fun.

  • Far Cry 6 isn’t perfect but the anger toward the FC formula or the size of the game seems unnecessary. It’s fun, it’s beautiful and it’s finished without any massive bugs or glitches.

  • Far Cry 6 successfully manages to reinvent the formula into the best version of the series. If you have never touched a Far Cry game, or have been irked by some of the changes since Far Cry 3, this is your entry point. Even better, it is one of the few games that have come out since the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X to deliver a full AAA experience that doesn’t feel rushed or unfinished. Along with the buttery smooth framerate from the Xbox Series X, this feels like one of the first games made with next-gen as a priority.

  • Far Cry 6 is fun, there’s no doubt about that. Yara is a fantastic backdrop, and if you enjoy mindlessly shooting stuff up, you’ll absolutely be in your element. You probably won’t really care much for Dani’s story though, and the game’s tonal dissonance can be somewhat off-putting.

  • Far Cry 6 manages to mess those up and pull players out of the moment even if you ignore the choppy animations. At the conclusion of one region's story when you're instructed to leave a character alone, killing them instead resulted in zero consequences or reprimanding from the person who'd directed you differently.

  • Far Cry 6 is as Far Cry as Far Cry gets. It may be cut from the same cloth as previous entries almost identically, but when the action is this fun and the world is this expansive and full of things to do, I’m not going to complain. The title alone will let you know if that’s for you, but if it is, you’re in for one hell of a ride.

  • Far Cry 6 is filled with wasted potential due to bugs and the inconsistent excessively long story.
