- Far Cry 5 upped the gameplay of the series in satisfying ways. The entire campaign was finally playable in co-op, and the premise had potential. In the end, it misses the mark severely story-wise, but it’s a really fun shooter.
Jesse Norris · Aug 01, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It speaks volumes that these are the problems Far Cry 5 has. A handful of minor and sometimes specious complaints idling in the back of my head, mostly ignored because Adeline just said something funny and a truck is blowing up and someone brought a rocket launcher and there’s a fire burning in the trees behind me while Peaches mauls some guy dressed like a biker who can’t believe he’s being eaten by a giant cat and he just said so.
Tom Chick · Apr 15, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - So Far Cry 5 isn't perfect, but it doesn't matter. While you're not likely to remember its story in a few months' time, and the erratic driving of friendly civilians may frequently alarm you, its gameplay shines and that's what's important. Setting you free in a stunningly realised open world, Far Cry 5 gives you all the tools you need for tens of hours of outrageous fun.
Richard Seagrave · Apr 06, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Okay, so let's get down to the core of it. Far Cry is - and always has been - a big murderous sandbox where you can parachute out of a helicopter, shoot a couple of wolves with a bazooka, chuck a knife at the driver of a quad, steal it, drive it off a cliff into a lake and jet ski into the sunset.
Stuart Thomas · Apr 03, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Despite some brief irritations and missed opportunities with its narrative, spending time in the world of Hope County remains absolutely delightful. Far Cry 5 boasts a wonderfully harmonious flow to its adventure, with its smart changes to exploration, discovery, and progression distinctly bolstering the enjoyment of creatively engaging and experimenting with its spectacular open world.
Edmond Tran · Apr 03, 2018 Reviewed onRead full review - They gave us a world filled with opportunities but chose not to capitalize on any of them for themselves, opting to hope players will distract themselves with the meaty gameplay and craft their own stories of merit. Far Cry 5’s not a bad game, it’s just a disappointing one with squandered potential.
Cade Onder · Apr 02, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - At the same time, Far Cry 5 met all my expectations for exciting combat and hilarious moments. Whether grappling from my helicopter because a random NPC jacked it, or hearing Adelaide discuss why she stocked up on olive oil before Eden’s Gate took over, there were more moments of hilarity and brilliance than not.
Bill Lavoy · Apr 02, 2018 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - Ubisoft’s new open world shooter is a true testament to the power of listening to fans and critical feedback, a vast improvement over Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal. While the game’s story isn’t exactly brilliant, the sheer amount of hell you can raise, coupled with the addictive arcade mode, are more than enough to guarantee a purchase. Murdering a bunch of lunatics in rural landscapes to the sound of lovely classic rock and country music hasn’t been that good since Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas! Far Cry 5 is one of the best games of the year so far, without a doubt.
Leo Faria · Mar 30, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Even with plenty of flaws and questionable design decisions, Far Cry 5 has more than enough fun gameplay to make up for it.Microtransactions: Yes. Players can buy silver bars to purchase weapons and skins.
Jimmy Donnellan · Mar 30, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Far Cry 5 has a lot to do, with many objectives to complete throughout Hope County. The technical issues can lead to a lot of vexing moments and the multiplayer doesn't have enough depth for competitive players to keep playing. Where Far Cry 5 does shine is its excellent cast of characters.
