- Fallout Shelter is an incremental simulation game where we manage an expanding group of dwellers in a futuristic underground shelter after a nuclear war.
Jurij · Nov 24, 2022 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - I have no doubt that the game will get dozens of expansions over the next few years that make this game a lot more fun than it already is, but for the moment the fun will last for about a week. Since it’s free I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t download this game. You can get a solid week of enjoyment out of this game for no money at all.
Dan Hastings · Jan 01, 2019 Reviewed onRead full review - Fallout Shelter is an excellent companion title for whichever platform you decide to play it on and it fits beautifully with the Switch’s portability. It’s full of cute humor, it provides players with a nice gameplay loop, and most importantly, it allows you to freely play it and progress without the need of wasting extra money on time-saving microtransactions. Fallout Shelter is free-to-play done right, purely and simply.
Leo Faria · Jul 07, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Yes, touch functionality exists, but the experience on Switch doesn’t compare with dedicated phones or tablets, and if being able to play on the bus isn’t a concern, the PC version would be better still. Fallout Shelter is handsomely presented with a nice resource management loop that’s worthy of investigation, but it’s tough to recommend this version if you've got access to other platforms.
Gavin Lane · Jun 18, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Fallout Shelter is an excellent game in short bursts. Pick it up for an hour and set it aside for later, where you can pick up right where you left off. It is unfortunate that the game loses its luster the further into it you get, but the first few hours are so enjoyable, that it’s worth playing even for just one afternoon, and best of all, it’s free. If you need to scratch your Fallout itch before the release of Fallout 4, without playing the other games for the umpteenth time, then you can’t go wrong with Fallout Shelter.
Steve Dourountoudakis · Aug 25, 2015 Reviewed on AndRead full review - Fallout Shelter lacks a real endgame. Where do you go after hitting the maximum population of Dwellers? There’s some value in optimizing your Vault’s layout or improving your Dwellers… or as mentioned above, finding creative ways to dispose of them, but outside of that there is very little to tempt a player to keep coming back. ...Fallout Shelter is an enjoyable but ultimately shallow experience. It’s set apart from others of its ilk by making its transactions truly and completely optional — though sorely tempting.
Emily Speight · Aug 23, 2015 Reviewed on AndRead full review - All in all, this game is almost frustratingly catchy. It catches with its style, actually challenging and intelligent gameplay, and with its nods to the other games from the Fallout universe. So, I’m sure that both fans of the mobile economic strategies, and the fans of the Fallout games, are going to find Fallout Shelter equally pleasing.
Tony Kuzmin · Aug 20, 2015 Reviewed on And - Don't get me wrong. I had fun playing Fallout Shelter, and it's a great way to get my Fallout fix while waiting for the next installment. I just feel like certain aspects of the game could have been fleshed out more and that it should be more complex.
Jeb Haught · Jul 01, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Fallout Shelter is a cool concept, and a nice mobile title to pop on to for a few minutes each day (after spending more significant time chunks getting your facility sustainable). It could use some more content and things to do later on; special events, new rooms, or anything else that adds variety and interaction would improve the otherwise pleasant formula.
Daniel Tack · Jul 01, 2015 Reviewed on iOS - Fallout Shelter is at its best early on: when your fledgling vault is barely able to scrape by, and every raider attack has the potential to topple your fragile society. Once your vault is firmly established, all fear of losing, and thus the fun, fades away. Combine this with a lack of compelling longterm goals, and you have an experience that’s fun for a few days, but lacks long-term appeal.
