- There's plenty to like about EarthNight; it's absolutely gorgeous, the slow progression will keep you playing, and the simple controls are tight. As we said, it's a simple idea executed very well. If you can put up with some inconsistencies, this is an imaginative and vibrant game that's worth a stab.
Stephen Tailby · Feb 20, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - One could easily see a player losing interest early on due to the too delayed gratification of grinding through levels to collect all of the pieces needed for a power-up to progress. After seeing how the game evolves, I have to say that it's worth the time investment. EarthNight scrapes against greatness in its concept but falls slightly short in execution — not with the space dragons, though. I fully plan to execute all of the space dragons that I can get my hands on.
Joseph Doyle · Feb 19, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - There’s a certain momentum to removing the ability to go backward, creating zen in the utter chaos. EarthNight is the perfect blend of its elements—incredible visuals, a driving soundtrack, and fast-paced gameplay that is rewarding to learn. Slay just one dragon, and you can’t help but want to slay them all.
Chandler Wood · Feb 06, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - EarthNight has some novel ideas when it comes to making an auto-runner worth coming back to time and time again, but the inconsistent difficulty spikes and RNG elements can quickly put an otherwise good run into freefall.
Kai Powell · Jan 22, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - A good entry into what feels like a genre of old, successfully maintaining the fun, and feeling fresh when it wasn't that long ago this would've felt played out. The visuals are the real feature, especially when the package is as light as it is, altogether making it a great game for mobile, and a decent one for the Switch.
Morgan Truder · Dec 18, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - While Earthnight looks and sounds great, the act of playing it isn't very fun, and that somewhat defeats the point of an endless runner. Without a satisfying gameplay loop to keep you coming back for more, it's highly likely that you will play a couple of runs before going off and playing something else. Also, we should probably just give our world to dragons anyway; it's not like we're treating it very well.
Jason Coles · Dec 16, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - If you consider yourself a fan of platformers or are looking to buy a game for your Switch that’ll be easy to get into regarding the time investment, we’d highly recommend EarthNight. Auto-runners don’t get much better than this, and it’s a blast to play through.
Mitch Vogel · Dec 04, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Simple, yet sophisticated platformer that keeps you coming back for more. EarthNight is a highly addictive platformer with great progression caked in. While this review was done on PC, it is easily a must have for mobile platforms.
Suzie Ford · Dec 03, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - EarthNight has limited scope, but does what it does very well. Its fast-paced platforming meshes in nicely with a soundtrack that doesn’t stop delivering satisfying music. It has some of the best gameplay/soundtrack integration out there and is a must for anyone who loves endless runners. It’s challenging and unlike a lot of runners, tests your platforming skills early and often with a blend of perilous jumps and tricky enemy placement. It looks gorgeous with a painted art style that works well still and in motion.
Jeremy Peeples · Dec 03, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - EarthNight is a beautifully made game with a powerful and loveable soundtrack that feels nostalgic thanks to the Chiptune music. The gameplay is hard to pick up but once you played the game a few times, it is a pretty joyful title to play through. There isn’t much story to the game, which isn’t a big nightmare since it will take you quite some time to reach the higher levels. The hand-drawn graphics are what makes this game very pleasing to look at but sadly, there are frame drops that can hamper the gameplay and the annoying hitboxes can cause some serious frustration.

EarthNight is a hand-painted runner about the dragon apocalypse featuring procedurally generated levels. We intend to change the way you think about runner games by designing on a much grander scale.
