- The perfectly titled Dynasty Warriors Next shows what’s next for the long running series. While the core hack-and-slash combat is present and further refined, DWN creatively takes hold of Vita’s multiple control interfaces and online connectivity, and melds together an exciting, console quality Warriors title that’s perfectly fitting for the handheld. For purists, newbies or even those just looking to try a Warriors title again, Next is definitely worthy of being the next game booted up in your Vita.
Christopher Ingram · May 09, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Dynasty Warriors Next is a game that takes the functionality of the PlayStation Vita and accentuates it, and it brings the player an experience that's really worth having. Though the camera and the back-stabbing AI are issues throughout, the sheer diversity of the gameplay and the pace of it all, including some of the fastest loading I've seen on Vita games so far, puts this up with Wipe out 2048 and Uncharted: Golden Abyss as a must-own game.
Timothy Nunes · Mar 29, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Dynasty Warriors Next certainly retreads familiar ground, but the Vita hardware has put a bit more spring in its step. The high-quality presentation, touch features, and substantial cache of content that includes ad-hock co-op and an addictive Conquest mode should please repeat customers and perhaps even bring a few newcomers to the battlefield.
Game Trailers · Mar 02, 2012 Reviewed on Vita - Overall I would have to say that although Dynasty Warriors Next is not a bad game, but it is not an overly good game either. If anything I would say that is definitely above average, which in the end still makes it a title worth looking at. If you are looking for an action game that has it roots deep in the world of strategy, and you are looking for such a game to take with you on the go, then take a close look at the PS Vita version of Dynasty Warriors, as it may just fit this bill.
Kirby Yablonski · Feb 26, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Dynasty Warriors Next is a very good Dynasty Warriors entry, if a somewhat traditional one. Its Vita-specific additions are somewhat lacking, and the core action will get repetitive over time, but it makes for a killer diversion and provides a wholly satisfying, console-quality Dynasty Warriors experience for the player on the go. If that's what you want, this game will not disappoint.
Shelby Reiches · Feb 24, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Even so, this is Dynasty Warriors through and through, and if the new content might convince a few newcomers to take the plunge, anyone who hated the previous games will find little to love here. Though if it’s been a while since you played a Warriors game, perhaps it’s time to reconsider: it works as both a cathartically satisfying hack-and-slash on the easier difficulties, and a surprisingly thoughtful action-based strategy game on the higher levels.
Chris Schilling · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Dynasty Warriors Next shows us that the series still has some life left in it. The addition of various Vita technology adds to gameplay, rather than detracting and feeling forced on you. Yes, the combat is mostly repetitive, and yes, the graphics are nothing to write home about. But with plenty of items to collect and various strategies to try before going into battle, Omega Force has made some significant changes that change up the monotony of battle.
Paulmichael Contreras · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - As we said, this is still Dynasty Warriors, even with the touch screen commands and gyroscope shenanigans. It's mindless to a fault, where eventually, you just want the mission over with. At the same time, this is exactly the type of experience hardcore DW fans want, and for these people, NEXT delivers.
Chris Buffa · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The game desperately wants to be counted among those early titles that show off the Vita's extra features, but Omega Force simply isn't good enough at exploiting them. Mandatory touchscreen duels and vapid tracing minigames aren't what people play Dynasty Warriors for, and their presence in NEXT will only exasperate.
Jim Sterling · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - For many gamers, you knew exactly how you feel about this game on the cover alone, and we’re here to say your assumption isn’t wrong: This is virtually identical to previous Dynasty Warriors games. If you’re new to the series and thinking of picking it up with your system on launch day, Dynasty Warriors Next is a game that will keep you busy for a long time. So long as its action-packed gameplay doesn’t bore you to death first.
