- The gameplay felt responsive outside of the motion controls, and leveling up my free-running abilities became second nature. The movement is where Dying Light shines the most. I forgot how fluid this game was as I chose a destination and just ran.
Nathan Mejia · Nov 17, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Dying Light: Platinum Edition for Switch is still a very good game. This six-year-old game still holds up surprisingly well and is a blast to play in handheld mode. If you’re planning to play this one on the big screen, you’re still getting a better experience on other platforms, but as far as an open-world zombie survival game for a handheld console goes, this one is easily the best one out there.
Ibuki · Nov 15, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - In terms of gameplay mechanic quality, graphic quality and just overall game enjoyment, I would recommend console or PC 100% of the time. But if you have already played Dying Light and want a chance to take Harran with you in your pocket, then this is definitely a game I would recommend adding to your library.
Dev Crowley · Nov 09, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All the extra content certainly sweetens the pot, I’ll admit, but it’s a steep price despite how fun the game is. Techland has been dedicated to patching the game regularly too, so any small issues to such a good package will be sure to be ironed out over time. I’m a bit bummed that the Switch version of the sequel will be streamed, because playing this original game natively was ideal.
Cullen Black · Nov 04, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Dying Light: Platinum Edition is another impressive Switch port, but the game itself is just OK. Its design threw everything at the wall, often to its detriment. While it has some pretty high highs, they lie almost exclusively in the movement.
David Flynn · Nov 01, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Dying Light Platinum Edition is the ultimate edition of an amazing game, now on a handheld. It takes the whole base game, its main expansion, and every other bit of DLC, big and small, ever released. Which wouldn’t matter if it was a bad port, but it’s somehow the exact opposite. One of the most impressive and smooth ports ever released for the system, and proof that it is possible for impressive games to work on the platform. Sure, it takes some work, but damn, does it pay off indeed. And yet Square Enix can’t get Kingdom Hearts, a PS2 game, to work natively on the system…
Thomas Medina · Oct 26, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Dying Light on Switch is quite a remarkable achievement, and we’re happy to report that Techland has mostly stuck the landing with this one. Its ambitious open world full of zombies is unlike anything else in the Switch’s library and, between the core campaign and six years of constant DLC updates, there’s potentially hundreds of hours of enjoyment to be had here. Granted, all of this comes at the cost of performance that can be middling compared to other platforms, but this is neatly balanced out by the convenience of playing in handheld mode.
Mitch Vogel · Oct 24, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Dying Light is six years old, but it hasn’t lost its edge. A fantastic parkour system, extensive combat customization, and a unique take on the zombie-filled post-apocalyptic world mean Techland’s horror game still holds its own after so long.
Josh Broadwell · Oct 21, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Dying Light: Platinum Edition looks surprisingly good on Switch, and even more impressive is that load times are kept short and the framerate stable. So, with a journey to Harran being as captivating today as it was in 2015, there’s no reason why those who love exploring open worlds filled with zombies wouldn’t want to pick this up.
Richard Seagrave · Oct 18, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - That is it. Dying Light: Platinum Edition for the Switch is a straightforward port of a solid game. The basic zombie-killing parkour adventure is still as fun as it was when the game was originally released, and it has only received more content and more things to kill since then.
