- Dust: An Elysian Tail is a fantastic 2D game and a mandatory title for your Switch library. The story is great, the characters are memorable, the difficulty level is on point, the visuals are superb, the gameplay is solid and the voice acting is outstanding. The fact this has all been done by one single developer makes me respect this game even more. Dust is without a doubt, a fantastic passion project. How the heck did I miss this one back in 2012??
Leo Faria · Nov 24, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - While a handful of legacy problems persist onto Nintendo Switch, those issues aren't enough to conceal Dust: An Elysium Tail’s true quality. With a beautiful world to explore, an intriguing cast of characters and a combat model that’ll make you feel like you're starring in an anthropomorphic version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, this is an indie gem that’s still as fun and rewarding as it was when it first slashed its way onto the scene - despite some small niggles.
Dom Reseigh-Lincoln · Sep 17, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - If you’re a fan of metroidvania-style games, games with a good story, or even just something to pass the time, I would absolutely recommend adding this game to your Switch library immediately. It’s perfect for beginners and experienced players alike and will leave you with hours of challenge and entertainment.
Matthew Olivo · Sep 10, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Dust can be frustrating to play on a touch screen - at least on the harder difficulties. Controller support is coming though and there's little else to complain about. Get this game. It's special.
Campbell Bird · Oct 15, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - The developer clearly took the needs of the platform into account, providing all kinds of options that make sense for mobile players, but without compromising an inch on the gameplay. This is one of the best games I've played on iOS this year, which I suppose is Shaun-speak for "go buy this game now, friends".
Shaun Musgrave · Oct 14, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Crisp visuals, a fantastic soundtrack, and an impressive campaign make Dust: An Elysian Tail easily the best Summer of Arcade release thus far, clearly ending the promotion with a bang. If you're looking for an RPG with old-school sensibilities to spend a weekend or two on, Dust must not be missed.
Brittany Vincent · Oct 14, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Dust: An Elysian Tail is a relatively rousing beat-‘em-up experience. Its combat feels fluid and precise, its presentation is mostly gorgeous, and its story – while relatively pedestrian – is told with humour and panache. Unfortunately, a repetitive second half combined with some potentially profanity-provoking platforming hold it back from truly soaring.
Kell Andersen · Oct 12, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Although the dialogue could use some judicious excising and the combat a bit more variation, the game rewards bold exploration with some imaginative platforming and beautiful, widely-varied environments. Never mind that on first look, Falana and its doe-eyed denizens presents like the sort of mind-numbing fodder Channel 5 screens early on a Saturday morning, this is a game with abundant cross-generational appeal. Dust: An Elysian Tail - the acceptable and furry face of fantasy violence.
PC Gamer · Jul 08, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - You don’t have to be a furry to appreciate the magic that Dust: An Elysian Tail has to offer. Despite the story being not all that memorable, and some repetitive gameplay here and there, it’s still an enjoyable experience from top to bottom, offering fast paced combat and comical dialogue. Throw in the RPG elements and we have ourselves a winner. The PC version is also an excellent port, offering a steady framerate, crisp visuals and well-established controls.
Adam Beck · May 24, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Combined with its story, Dust owes much of its atmosphere and success to its truly gorgeous art and original, often complex music. Almost every backdrop is a hand-crafted gem that is aided by music that shifts in depth and tone at just the right moments to create a beautiful sense of setting and atmosphere. As with the writing and acting, there's a simple harmony at work between the art and music in most levels that works so well as to be virtually invisible....
