- While Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers may be tough to grasp at first, it doesn’t collapse under the weight of its mechanics. Every run is a unique adventure that surprised me more times than I thought possible, and it ends up a solid entry into the budding roguelike deckbuilder genre.
GC Staff · Sep 23, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - An entertaining roguelike deckbuilder held back by irritating design decisions. Frustrating, but far from a bust.
Abbie Stone · Aug 17, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers offers a unique spin on blackjack by combining it with roguelike features. While it has its moments and can be fun, it doesn’t quite reach the level of some other deck-building games. The game’s dependence on luck and some frustrating mechanics might detract from the fun, but it’s still worth checking out if you’re into blackjack and roguelikes. Just be prepared for a game where chance plays a big role.
Tom Henry · Aug 14, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers is excellent, but it is a few updates away from being truly special. Right now, I absolutely recommend it if you’re willing to learn through experience though. It also feels like a nice middle ground between Balatro and Luck Be a Landlord in terms of how much luck plays a part in your run. If that sounds good to you, I urge you to give it a shot. I hope to see it come to mobile and console in the future.
Mikhail Madnani · Aug 12, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers is a great blackjack-inspired roguelike title with a lot of components that make TCGs a lot of fun. The game presents players with fun challenges, a quirky theme, and entertaining nods to other games and franchises, and it’s a cool title to pick up in between bigger releases. This is one of those titles we see ourselves returning to once in a while to play a run or two, before ultimately moving on to other things again. This might be Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers’ forte, as it’s so easy to return to, and even then, we still discover new cards to put into our digital binder. Now, we’re going to squeeze in a run or two before we move onto our next review title.
Ibuki · Aug 09, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Ultimately, what hurts the most about launching in the long shadow of Balatro is the expectation of a wide possibility space and near-endless depth. Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers is more of a diversion than a new avocation, with interesting ideas that play out fairly quickly and funnel toward a few very specific viable strategies. It’s fun! Briefly.
Graham Russell · Aug 08, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers is a lovely Blackjack deck builder that's easy to learn, with plenty of unique ways to hit twenty one.
