- The sluggish controls, crowded battlefields, and lame action lessen the appeal significantly, but there is a ton of content in Dungeon Defenders, especially if you have some friends to play with. The difficulty may be steep, but if you're willing to grind there's always another challenge waiting to knock you on your rear
Maxwell McGee · Nov 04, 2011 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Dungeon Defenders is a worthwhile addition to your game library with plenty of content for the price. Although the combat falls short, the tower defense gameplay, RPG elements, and the challenging game modes will have fans of tower defense delighted
Lorenzo Veloria · Oct 31, 2011 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Whether it's four-player local or online play – or any mix thereof – you need to play with others. Playing alone is, well, lonely, and results in frustrating and boring gameplay. Mix together a few classes, and the competition of players who can do better and each level becomes a frantic frag fest
Anthony Gallegos · Oct 31, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The only downfall with Dungeon Defenders is the downtime that comes after playing co-op: playing alone is only so good, since playing with friends is one of the best experiences on independent download games, and is easily comparable in enjoyment to many disc based blockbusters. The money spent on this game, which is about $15, will be well worth the time placed in this game
Timothy Nunes · Oct 31, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Dungeon Defenders is everything you could want from a downloadable title. The amount of content and number of possible play styles is astounding and, when combined with its addictive nature, makes for superb value for money. Whether you choose to go it solo or gather up a party of loot-hungry friends, Dungeon Defenders definitely isn’t a game that should be kept locked away
Mike Mason · Oct 26, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The amount of customization in Dungeon Defenders is high: leveling up to 70, increasing stats, and finding and improving weapons allows for the creation of a very refined character. A grueling difficulty and intense grind hamper the otherwise stellar multiplayer experience. Though the underlying action RPG mechanics are well done, constant grinding through improperly balanced levels brings the game down a couple notches
Jason Jasicki · Oct 25, 2011 Reviewed on X360 - Unfortunately the difficulty and slow movement around the large levels make playing alone feel like a dull grind. If you have no intention of playing online I would suggest holding off on this one, but if you can get a few friends together, either online or locally, or don’t mind making new friends over the interwebz, Dungeon Defenders has a lot of depth, variety, fun and laughs that it is worth every penny.
HITMAN-INC · Oct 19, 2011 Reviewed on X360Read full review - And that's probably the best summation of Dungeon Defenders: a great (virtual) place to hang out with your friends. Some specially tailored single-player missions would be nice, but I certainly can't fault developer Trendy Entertainment for a lack of content. There are scads of loot to collect and thirteen missions to try out, each playable in several different ways
Richard Mitchell · Oct 19, 2011 Reviewed on X360 - A few imperfections aside, developer Trendy Entertainment hit the nail on the head with Dungeon Defenders: It's unique, deep, addictive, and cheap. If you have $15 to spare and enjoy RPGs, tower defense, and a good challenge, there's no reason whatsoever to pass it up.
Robert VerBruggen · Oct 18, 2011 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - Dungeon Defenders doesn't just deliver in offering a huge package of cooperative fun, but raises the bar for downloadable titles by offering more than the average full-priced retail title does these days. It strikes a balance between action, RPG, and tower defense in a way that turns it into the Castle Crashers of tower defense
