Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake got me to reflect on what parts of the original Dragon Quest I I found special, and it manages to elevate Dragon Quest II into one of my new favorite games in the series.

While not perfect, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is an incredible remake of two fantastic, staple games of the genre. While it may not be for every type of player, the new enhancements, updates, and quality-of-life improvements make it a must-have for returning fans and modern JRPG enthusiasts.

While Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a transformative reimagining of both games, the adjustments to Dragon Quest II are much more successful and make it an essential game in the series, while Dragon Quest I loses a lot of its magic and charm.

As a release, the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a brilliant offering, but it's an even better tribute to the games it's based on.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake has done what I initially deemed impossible: make me genuinely invested and enthralled by outings I had little care for, thanks to its profound, interconnected storytelling.
