- Dragon Ball Fusions isn't bad by any measure, but I'd struggle to call it exciting. The fact is, only big Dragon Ball fans are going to keep returning to Dragon Ball Fusions, casual fans need not apply.
Dave Aubrey · Mar 07, 2017 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Forget the disappointing video game adaptations of the past, Dragon Ball has finally come of age on consoles. Dragon Ball Fusions fuses fan service with an enjoyable story and battle system to create a fresh Dragon Ball video game experience, with the only blot being the sometimes tedious energy aquisition process . If you are looking for a new and original Dragon Ball title to play on your 3DS, your wish has been granted.
Matt Furtado · Jan 25, 2017 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - The interpretation of the Dragon Ball world is great, and the fun of allowing all kinds of fan-fiction-style character fusions is a strong basis to build a fan-service-laden romp around. If the progression felt a bit less stilted and fights weren't drawn out, repetitive affairs, this would be one of the strongest Dragon Ball games out there. Alas, just like Hercule in the series, Dragon Ball Fusions postures and promises more than it actually delivers.
Heidi Kemps · Dec 18, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Fusions stands out in the library of Dragon Ball video games as an interesting entry in the otherwise fighting-game-heavy collection. It is charming in its willingness to innovate within Dragon Ball, but it never quite executes on any of its pillars. Fusions is an extra-goofy take on the world of Dragon Ball Z. It’s repetitive, and doesn’t have enough fusing, but has a strange charm.
Kyle Hilliard · Dec 12, 2016 Reviewed on 3DS - Tedium aside, I enjoyed my time with Dragon Ball Fusions. The game’s battle system is pretty enjoyable, and the story is a nice change of pace from normal Dragon Ball games that just parrot stories from the various sagas. It’s nothing revolutionary, and there are certainly some problems here and there, but Dragon Ball Fusions is a fun game that takes its creative license to create an enjoyable experience.
Bryan Rose · Dec 05, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Despite all of the complaints, there is some inherit value to Dragon Ball Fusions. The battle system, while not great, is creative and captures the feel of an anime. The plethora of heroes means that fans can create a team with nothing but their favorites and journey through the tale. The length and breadth of things to do will give anyone who enjoys this an incredible amount of value. Taken only on its merits as a game, though, and there are some noisome elements.
Jason Bohn · Nov 28, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - If you’re a dedicated follower of Akira Toriyama’s work, then you’ll find a lot to enjoy with this title. It takes some risks and offers a complete compendium of characters from each installment of the anime. It also puts an emphasis on creativity with the fusion system, but lacks focus. I want to love it, but I can’t fathom sitting through that story again.
Peter Glagowski · Nov 23, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Many Dragon Ball games from over the years have been criticized for playing it too safe, but Dragon Ball Fusions definitely tries something very new, even if it doesn’t all work to perfection. While the flying feels very awkward and the unique fighting system can take awhile to get used to, the abundance of available fusions and lighthearted nature make Dragon Ball Fusions a genuinely fun experience.
Dean James · Nov 22, 2016 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Dragon Ball Fusions is such an original and fun idea, yet is plagued with so many flaws and annoyingly flawed aspects of the gameplay that the final product is reduced to something that ends up being a specialist game for hardcore fans that can ignore a 10-12-hour title tripling in lifespan due to so many repeating animations bloating out every combat sequence. There's still an enjoyable game here with some addictive aspects, but it could be so much better with just a few minor tweaks. Quite disappointing.
Drew Hurley · Feb 24, 2017 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - If the combat was more interesting and made full use of the 3D it would be a game worth playing for the amount of time it takes to collect everything. Going in to this game I wasn’t expecting anything mind-blowing as its common for handheld Dragon Ball games to be of a lesser quality. It seems some things never change.
