- I quickly found myself addicted to Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure – it’s colourful, addictive and has some cool music too. However, the further I got into the game I noticed one quite annoying flaw: the brutal difficulty spikes. You will find yourself steaming through levels and then suddenly coming across one that seems to be almost impossible.
Kieren Hawken · Jul 27, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Considering how long Dr. Mario has been around, the modifications here serve as a pleasant surprise and manage to inject a fresh element into a puzzling experience that is by now a bit long in the tooth. Even without the new content, Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure is a worthwhile addition to the serious puzzle fan's gaming library. It just doesn't offer enough that's new compared to Dr. Luigi to warrant a glowing recommendation if you already invested in that other recent release.
Jason Venter · Jun 29, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure doesn’t do much to rock the boat that the series has built over the last couple of decades. This is both a good thing and a bad thing, as the game doesn’t ruin what fans have loved, but it also doesn’t offer much to bring them back either. Those who have been dying to get back into the series will enjoy Miracle Cure, but only if they plan to really put a lot of time into the multiplayer.
Kyle Hanson · Jun 29, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - However, Virus Buster is the surprising highlight of the game (but doesn't include any of the Miracle Cure capsules) and offers a new gameplay take on the classic puzzler that allows for experimentation and improvisation. It's also certainly worth a buy if you're into Dr. Mario multiplayer, where it can be played locally or online with a ranking system.
Blake Peterson · Jun 25, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - When all is said and done though, there really isn't a whole lot to Miracle Cure if you aren't going to play multiplayer with a friend who shares your passion. I really wish Nintendo showed a bit more effort when it comes to solo play, as the standard "missions" aren't cutting it. I would kill to see a new storyline (like Dr. Mario 64) incorporated into the franchise, one that unites both Mario and Luigi against a common foe. For now, there's only so much pill-dropping that I can take.
Chris Carter · Jun 18, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure is a decent puzzle title. It offers more content at a lower price than its Wii U predecessor in Dr. Luigi. It’s a fun puzzle game to play and the new Miracle Cure mechanics open the game up not only to new strategies but succeed in making the game more approachable to newcomers of the series. That said, for those of you that have played the Dr. Mario games to death, there still may be too little in the way of new content to warrant a purchase, but there’s more than enough to have fun with.
Joe Merrick · Jun 11, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - The new Miracle Cures add welcome new flourishes to the classic puzzle gameplay, and the sheer wealth of content on offer makes this a bargain. Even once you've ignored the awful Luigi bits.
Shabana Arif · Jun 11, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Featuring three different game modes from throughout the franchise's history, as well as preset scenarios to clear and online multiplayer, this is easily the most packed Dr. Mario game yet. There's a ton of different ways to play, so if you don't fancy Miracle Cure or Dr. Luigi, for example, you can easily leave them untouched and still have a lot to do. Those that are into head-to-head battles will find the online mode quite entertaining as well.
Marcel van Duyn · Jun 11, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - There’s nothing wrong with modernising older games. However, therein lies the problem for Miracle Cure: it’s just a modernisation. Over the years Nintendo has continued to innovate with its stable of core franchises, yet this feels more like a simple repackaging. Dr. Mario fans will no doubt jump at the chance to play it on 3DS, but for those used to cheaper, more fulfilling puzzle games on other platforms, Miracle Cure will prove a tough pill to swallow.
Jim Hargreaves · Jun 22, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure does the bare minimum to advance the series, but a wealth of content makes this a good proposition for fans of the series
