- Disney Illusion Island is a great game for a casual audience. When I was playing solo, it felt like a slog, but I had people rotate in and out for multiplayer, and that is when the game blossomed and became more fun.

Jet Set Radio Future was a truly formative game for me, and I’ve been waiting for years to play something that truly gets what made it work. While I typically find an attachment to nostalgia to be damaging to any work of art, Team Reptile has not let it bog them down. This is one of the freshest games you’ll play all year, and with its quality of life improvements and new modern flair, I think it has surpassed the games it was inspired by.
Ryan Janes · Sep 18, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Disney Illusion Island might not appeal to those who want non-stop hardcore platforming thrills, but there’s more than enough challenge here for those who look for it.
Simon Reed · Sep 18, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Disney Illusion Island is an interesting platformer that can be played solo or with friends and family, and it simply oozes that authentic Disney charm. The game proved to have solid platforming mechanics, fun story segments, and a cast of very likable characters with the capacity to entertain young and old. Sadly, the game is somewhat bogged down due to the lack of actual combat in the game, making the experience a bit duller than it could have been.
Ibuki · Aug 04, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All in all, while Disney’s Illusion Island is much better than the average kids’ game and actually provides an accessible challenge, adults might find themselves trapped by the illusion of having more to do on the island.
Eric Halliday · Aug 03, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Disney Illusion Island is a charming, enjoyable, easygoing Metroidvania platformer that should appeal to everyone regardless of how familiar you are with the genre or how skilled you are on the sticks.
Shubhankar Parijat · Aug 02, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Disney Illusion Island is a game that takes no risks, but at the same time, is exceptionally well made. There aren’t any deep criticisms to be made about its design, outside of it being the safests of bets in the overcrowded marketplace of its subgenre. As an entry level game for those without experience and/or younger players, it checks all the necessary boxes as it not only is a visual spectacle, but a lot of fun to play. And in the end, fun is what matters in a multiplayer game such as this, which it delivers in spades.
Eduardo Rebouças · Jul 30, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - I’m blown away by Disney Illusion Island. In a sea of hard-as-nails Metroidvanias like Hollow Knight or Metroid Dread, it stands out as being just as well-crafted but skewing towards a different, gentler experience. This is the platonic ideal for an entry-level platformer because it is filled with smartly designed gameplay that takes well-worn tropes and makes them more approachable for everyone while still providing a nice romp for those experienced with these types of games.
Neal Ronaghan · Jul 27, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Disney Illusion Island can best be compared to the average Disneyland ride. It's short, doesn't outstay its welcome, and shouldn't be experienced alone.
Ozzie Mejia · Jul 27, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Disney Illusion Island is a magnificent return to form for Mickey and friends. Though we wish that it was a bit more challenging, the excellent controls, relaxing vibes, whimsical world, and oodles of collectibles all come together to make for a cozy and enjoyable experience you won’t want to miss. We strongly recommend you pick up Illusion Island if you’re looking for another quality 2D platformer to add to your library, it’s full of that elusive Disney magic and is one of the best platformers to release on the Switch this year.
