- Disgaea 7 is a solid return to form for Nippon Ichi Software's flagship series, but it doesn't break any new ground and calls into question the continued longevity of the series without a significant shakeup.
· Oct 04, 2025 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Not only does Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless fix the myriad mistakes of its predecessor to the point of over-correction (and I mean that in a good way), but it even finds ways of utilizing mechanics that debuted in Disgaea 6 in ways that are both balanced and, if you’ll pardon the pun, intelligent.
Kenny McKee · Oct 16, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Not only is this a great Disgaea game, but it is also the best introduction to the franchise or even the genre
ALEJANDRO JOSAN · Oct 13, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless breaks free of all this to present a more cohesive, genuine tale and a rich playground for both SRPG fans and min-maxers. There’s a veritable all-you-can-eat buffet of stat grinding beneath the story mode, and now the character customization is robust enough to incentivize the long haul for those who want to seek out its hardest challenges.
Chris De Hoog · Oct 03, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - With incredibly in-depth tactical gameplay, a gorgeous art style, and a cast of some of the finest characters in the series, Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is one of the most enjoyable SRPGs I’ve played in years.
Mike Crewe · Sep 30, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless continues the Disgaea series' inexorable march forward, adding new mechanics and further complexity. It features a story campaign that goes down smoothly, if a little forgettable, but it's full of clever encounters that require more input than previous outings. It won't convert unbelievers, but for those already on the hook, it's as good as the series gets.
Khayl Adam · Sep 26, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Disgaea 7 offers up yet another enjoyable entry in the long-running series, offering up a more refined take on the famously in-depth gameplay systems. New mechanics such as Jumbification add some interesting wrinkles to the SRPG battles, while new modes like competitive ranked online bring even more playability to a game that’ll take you hundreds of hours to see to completion.
Mitch Vogel · Sep 26, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is a return to form for the tactics series, with tons of classes, thoughtful tactics gameplay, and that trademark wackiness that fans know and love. It’s a little harder than some of the recent games in the series, but once you get deep into the game you’ll never want to stop playing.
Lyle Carr · Sep 26, 2023 Reviewed on PS5, SwitchRead full review - Disgaea 7 continues that trend and amplifies it further. Combined with genuinely funny dialogue, a pretty good story, and a customization ocean that is as deep as it is wide, you have a game that can hoover up no small amount of time out of your day. More of the same isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and Disgaea 7 proves that axiom easily.
Junior Miyai · Sep 26, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is a substantial step-up from the previous game and it's bursting with so many zany mechanics and party customisation options that it'll make your head spin. Trying to master some of the missions will still give you a headache, though.
