- Keeping almost everything that made the original great while taking suitable steps to amp up the fun, Dead Space 2 will please both the series’ fans and those just starting with this haunting adventure.
Henry Gilbert · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - Dead Space 2 does an admirable job of keeping the action feeling fresh and taut, but the later stages of the game do start to feel a bit samey. You can only play through so many levels where you have to survive endless necromorph waves before they all feel alike. For the rest of the game, the necromorph attacks have a certain amount of context, but just standing in place and killing thing after thing after thing loses its charm after the first few times you do it.
Susan Arendt · Feb 08, 2011 Reviewed on X360Read full review - The game's slow pacing is punctuated by excellent set-pieces, with the tone perfectly crafted by the franchise's eerie blend of orchestral swells and futuristic sound effects. The series' recognisable selective dismemberment gameplay mechanic is as satisfying as ever, though Dead Space 2's combat heavy conclusion can get repetitive.
Sammy Barker · Jan 31, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Overall, besides retaining the irritation of having to seek out a save station to avoid losing progress when I want to quit, DS2 is a smartly improved version of the original. It's not a new experience, but it's a hair-raiser nonetheless. An excellent action-horror sequel. Dead Space 2 doesn’t try to innovate, but it’s a highly polished alien-rending experience.
Dan Stapleton · Jan 28, 2011 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Survival horror may be a dead genre, or a dying one, and other than improving its personal formula (which it does very well), Dead Space 2 doesn't offer that much in the way of innovation. Chances are likely that once you start playing it though, you'll be scared enough that you won't care—or even be aware of a difference.
Steve Haske · Jan 25, 2011 Reviewed on PC, PS3Read full review - Naturally, those that didn’t really get on with the first Dead Space will find that little (literally) has changed save for the location and a richer sense of characterisation, but for those of us that adored Clarke’s first adventure this sequel represents everything we could have wished for: it’s bigger, better and more beautiful but without straying from the core principles that mapped out the former.
nofi · Jan 25, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Dead Space 2 has everything its predecessor had – a principal mix of sophistication and dread, underpinned by elegant survival horror mechanics and visual design that’s nothing short of brilliant. But what it offers as a sequel isn’t more of the same but louder, or more of the same with bigger bosses, but more of the same with a greater depth of personality.
Edge Staff · Jan 25, 2011 Reviewed on PS3 - Dead Space 2's phenomenal production values, including perhaps the best use of sound in modern gaming, ensures the game stands tall amongst its peers. Most of the time, anyway. Dead Space 2 is sometimes a confused and disappointing production, but more often than not it's tense and fascinating. Just make sure that, whatever you do, you don't fzzfzgghzhghghghcrkrkkkckkkzzzzzzz...
Martin Gaston · Jan 25, 2011 Reviewed on PC, PS3, X360Read full review - The first couple hours with Dead Space 2 are very familiar, but it's one of those rare games that just keeps getting better. It's still a very dreary game that can make long play sessions a challenge, yet there are scores of moments that stick with you for quite some time. The multiplayer is a disappointment, but it's a much more accessible game that won't leave fans in a lurch. Pick it up, turn down the lights, turn up the sound, and check your nerves at the door.
Game Trailers · Jan 25, 2011 Reviewed on X360 - Unnecessary multiplayer aside, Dead Space 2 is a corker. It's an unpredictable powder-keg of the game; even when you get mulched by the Necromorphs it's great to see just how many chunks your corpse has been blown into. It being in space, no-one will hear your screams - but don't let that stop you...

About the game
Trailers & Screenshots:
In Dead Space™ 2, you join Isaac Clarke, the Systems Engineer from Dead Space, as he wakes up three years after the horrific events on the USG Ishimura. The Ishimura was a Planetcracker-class starship besieged by grotesque reanimations of its dead crew, known as “Necromorphs.”
After unearthing a strange artifact known as the Marker, Isaac finds himself on the Sprawl, a giant space station in orbit around Saturn. Unable to remember how he got here and plagued with demented visions of his dead girlfriend Nicole, he must survive another nightmarish outbreak of Necromorphs as he fights his way towards an answer he hopes will end all the chaos.
