- War's journey remains one of the strongest action-adventure experiences of its generation, combining satisfying combat, rewarding exploration, and memorable dungeon design.
· Jun 08, 2026 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - All in all, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great port of a good game. While it's not necessarily innovative, it is well executed and uniquely presented, something that still holds up well after almost 10 years since its original release. Not everything in the title has aged well, but it still plays and works as well as intended. The only letdown is the price tag of $30 when the Warmastered Edition arrived for $20 on all other platforms almost three years ago. In any case, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great game that's worth experiencing for the first time — or once again on the Switch.
Andreas Salmen · Jul 26, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Sure, there’s the odd misstep throughout the game’s 20-odd hour running time, such as some challenge rooms that feel shoehorned in, but on the whole Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is an absolute pleasure to play. If you’re after an epic action-adventure game to play on your Switch, look no further.
Richard Seagrave · Apr 02, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Darksiders Warmastered Edition remains as gloriously apocalyptic an adventure on Nintendo Switch as it ever was. With the added chance to battle Heaven and Hell whenever and wherever you like, it comes as an easy recommendation. Not only does it have an impulse purchase-inducing budget price point, but, especially for those that haven’t played it before, it will scratch that Zelda itch until Link’s next adventure arrives.
Alex Seedhouse · Apr 01, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - If you’re craving classic 3D Zelda, Darksiders is the game for you. Despite originally releasing almost 10 years ago, it has held up remarkably well. Even playing it my third time through, I still found it absolutely delightful. While its original weak points remain present in this remaster, so to do its strengths shine through. The customizable performance options, coupled with the Switch’s portability make this my favorite way to play an excellent game. Bring on Darksiders II and Darksiders III.
John Rairdin · Apr 01, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Despite the technical limitations of the Wii U leading to frame rate drops and the occasional crash, if you’ve never played Darksiders before, the game’s intense action should give you reason to revisit the console.
Alex Schramke · Jul 08, 2017 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - It remains an excellent heavy metal homage to Zelda games that’s satisfying and quite lengthy. I enjoy it more than its sequel, although that’s also a great game.
Zachary Miller · Jun 08, 2017 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Even though this is a remake of a six-year-old game, it still holds up pretty well as far as gameplay is concerned. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition looks at its best at 4K resolution and as a game, it's better than its sequel.
Jorge Jimenez · Jan 30, 2017 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - There's been no shortage of great games this year, but Darksiders: Warmastered Edition still holds up exceptionally well, and it's easy to recommend. It's not quite as fresh and exciting as it was in 2010, but I still think it's something everyone should try out. If you've played it before, it's worth revisiting.
Kevin McClusky · Dec 12, 2016 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - If you never had the opportunity to play Darksiders when it was originally released, you owe it to yourself to give it a play. Visually, the Warmastered Edition is easily the best, so it’s worth it for new players to play this new version. Returning players might be a bit disappointed that there is no new content added, and it’s difficult to recommend re-purchasing this game unless you were an huge fan of the original.

Trailers & Screenshots:
Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. In the slaughter that ensued, the demonic forces defeated the heavenly hosts and laid claim to the Earth. Brought before the sacred Charred Council, War is indicted for his crimes and stripped of his powers. Dishonored and facing his own death, War is given the opportunity to return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible. Hunted by a vengeful group of Angels, War must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on his quest for vengeance and vindication.
