  • Sadly, that falls apart for me at the fourth level. The difficulty ramps up consistently across the levels, but it goes too far to be enjoyable. ...Cosmophony is like a firework. As it's flying up and sending out sparks, interest builds. Once it detonates it's an awesome show of color and sound. After that it's over and everybody goes home. It's short and intense, but it stops being interesting once it oversteps the line between fun and frustrating.

  • A great concept that's well executed in terms of the way it combines music and movement. It's certainly fun, but the game is short, and its difficulty level is very steep indeed.

  • The challenge Cosmophony poses is unlike anything I’ve experienced lately, and that alone makes me want to forgive it for its imperfections. But understandably, not everyone who plays it will feel the same way, and that is unfortunate because the game has potential.

  • Cosmophony has no respect for any of your past gaming achievements: it just wants perfection – and by God is it going to get it from you. This all or nothing approach will certainly appeal to the masochistic gamers out there who revel in a real challenge. However, with only five stages and an absence of any way to tailor the difficulty, everyone else will have called time on this decent rhythmic shooter way before the DJ finishes his set.

  • The addictive gameplay is smooth and you’ll never be able to blame a death on the controls. The intense graphics may cause a few deaths until you get used to them, however, but they serve as a reminder that you need to focus on the task at hand. If you love runners or Rez, give Cosmophony a shot.

  • Its difficulty and lack of content may turn away some, but Cosmophony remains a stylish, addictive game that is sure to satisfy the resilient.

  • Cosmophony is not a perfect game, but a very entertaining one at the very least. The gameplay and presentation are really smooth and get you in the mood for a go. The difficulty ramps up a bit too fast for my liking though and not everyone will see the end of what the developers have prepared because of it. If there were more stages, I personally think that it would have been a less rough ride. But if you can deal with that, Cosmophony's devious challenges are waiting.

  • It may seem like there isn't much on offer in terms of the number of stages or modes, but there’s a good chance you’ll never even reach the end without putting a serious amount of time and practice into each stage. With a relatively small asking price and a unique premise, Cosmophony is a game that should at least be experienced by anyone who rates gameplay above all other aspects.

About the game

Your goal is to reach the end of each level by avoiding the obstacles and defeating as many enemies as possible. The controls are incredibly simple. You move left or right and shoot... But if this could appear simple the game we think that is certainly one of the most challenging you ever play!
