- Despite its problems, Coromon seems to be the best classic Pokémon experience you can hope for on iOS right now. It is certainly far from perfect, but there's a lot of love and ambition behind this project that is plain to see, and this makes putting up with some of its rougher edges relatively easy to do.
Campbell Bird · Dec 06, 2023 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Apart from offering a heartwarming tribute to one of the most popular and classic titles, it has various ends that do not seem soulless whether it be the customizable experience, playful visuals and sounds, or adorable but potent Coromons. It does have its cons in matters of exploration with loads of grinding and finding your way throughout the world. But, if you have been a core fan of this type of gameplay and want to feel evocative, you will most probably fancy the Coromon adventure.
Anshuli Arya · Nov 26, 2023 Reviewed onRead full review - Coromon is a worthy addition to the monster-catching genre, however, there is no getting away from the fact that TRAGsoft has dumbed down the standard gameplay a bit with its free-SP recovery and Potential system. You can ignore a lot of these, but some people will be turned off by this visage of ease. I loved these changes and found the game quite good fun with its delightfully retro design, and given that you can play up to the third town for free, what have you got to lose?
Shaun Walton · Nov 22, 2023 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Coromon might be a new game, but the idea is all too familiar. However, different game settings, a new story, over 100 different monsters and a vast world to explore make this game a fun experience.
Kaelyn Daugherty · Aug 26, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It’s clear that Coromon was worth the wait, even if it didn’t quite live up to my hype as the game that dethroned Pokémon. That said, this is a beautiful and creative adventure full of heart, with hours of gameplay to keep you going and plenty of reasons for hardcore players to pay attention. Sure, I might have wanted more optional content, but what’s here is hard to dismiss.
Josh Speer · Aug 01, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - If you’re a fan of the Pokémon games of the DS-era (up to Black 2 & White 2), then Coromon is a title to consider picking up. It never quite reaches the same heights as what the original has to offer, and the monsters themselves aren’t as memorable by a long shot, but what the game does do quite well is scratch that monster-catching itch that you might feel after having completed Legends: Arceus. Given that November’s release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is still quite some time away, you might want to take a look at TRAGsoft’s offering to feed your monster-catching addiction in the meantime.
SebastiaanRaats · Jul 31, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Coromon is a quaint journey full of fun, smiles, and kick-ass evolutionary forms. Nothing is offensive. The issues I noted can swiftly be addressed with a patch. In other words, it’s at the cusp of being a superb monster collector. The foundation is hard as a rock, with no signs of chipping – it’s time to build on it. If TRAGsoft implemented a method to share experience points, the appeal amongst adults would rise. There are a variety of others that softens the absence, though – for example, particular rooms in a dungeon act like checkpoints.
FerniWrites · Jul 22, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Coromon takes aim at one of the greatest series of all time and, while it isn’t any threat to Pokémon’s worldwide domination, it is a charming and fun nostalgia trip for fans. Excessive grinding and a story that takes its time to get going mar what is otherwise a worthwhile journey, but if you're a fan of old-school Pokémon, that shouldn’t put you off investigating this title up.
Trent Cannon · Jul 22, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Coromon is a game filled with potential but past sinking sands and perplexing puzzles it starts to fall flat. Fans of the genre will be delighted by the levels of customization thanks to the potential system and easy skill switching. Though, once you beat the roughly twenty-three or so hour campaign you'll find little to do.
Paige Chamberlain · Jun 07, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - As such, Coromon is something that clearly comes from a place of great respect. Pokemon fans will likely find a game that appreciates what people love about the first five generations of Game Freak's franchise, and even when things get a little clunky there's enough for users to enjoy.
