- Some minor quirks aside that could, in all honesty, be fixed by patches before too long, Core Keeper is a delight of a game that excels at offering options for being creative and tackling situations. It is easy to get engrossed in finding your way through the depths, establishing a settlement, and making progress, thanks to the intuitive systems in place. Core Keeper is definitely a game those who loved ones like Terraria and Minecraft should investigate.
Jenni Lada · Nov 09, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Core Keeper is a wonderfully engaging and mysterious survival sandbox that is tough to put down once it gets its hooks in you. An expertly judged progression curve, tons of secrets and unlockables, and excellent presentation all come together to make this one an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a great new survival game. If you’ve had your fill of stalwarts like Minecraft or Terraria and are looking for the next great game to scratch that itch, look no further.

Christopher Livingston · Sep 18, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Core Keeper is an excellent addition to the sandbox survival genre. The cleverly interlocking systems, the levelling up, and the promise of something new around each corner is going to cause it to consume a lot of people’s times. A must-have for all players.
AJ Small · Sep 06, 2024 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - While the likes of Terraria and Valheim continue to hog headlines, Core Keeper offers strong competition. Its compelling gameplay, excellent art style, and extensive range of content make it worth diving in.
Ravi Sinha · Sep 06, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - If you enjoy games that combine exploration, building, and combat with a retro touch, Core Keeper is a valuable addition to your collection. With its expansive underground world, the possibility of playing in co-op mode, and support for mods, the game has great potential to continue growing and evolving. Definitely, a recommendation for those seeking a unique and engaging adventure in the vast abyss of Core Keeper.
Óscar Ontañón Docal · Sep 06, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - A game about wonder and discovery, it's hard to find fault with Core Keeper — as long as you're happy not to have your hand held. You'll need to figure everything out for yourself, but that's part of the joy. Whatever type of player you are, whether you want to focus on exploration and combat or build your own ecosystem, Core Keeper caters for you thanks to its huge amount of content.
Kim Snaith · Aug 26, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - I think the biggest praise I can give to the game is that I cannot wait to dig into it with a few friends over the coming weeks. It's the kind of game you can slowly chip away at over several evenings and the hardcore mode even offers some replayability down the line. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheels of its genre, Pugstorm’s Core Keeper emerges confidently out of early access and I’m looking forward to revisiting it over and over again in the coming years.
Timo Reinecke · Aug 26, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Core Keeper is a strong survival game that can easily chew through the hours, providing a great balance between adventure and homesteading. There's a sense that no idea was left out, whether that be a constant pet companion or minecart rail lines, and while these may not get fully fleshed out, this is a rare occasion where quantity manages to make up for depth. The pet levels up and sometimes enemies drop treats that give it a nice experience boost, and that's all it needs to do. Minecart goes on tracks, riding it beats walking and maybe it doesn't need a complicated system of switches and sidings to get the job done. The underground world of Core Keeper stretches on for functionally forever, filled with chasms, monsters, resources beyond measure and even an underground sea. There's a huge amount of ways to play with it all and sometimes that's more than enough.
