- On the whole, Child of Light is an easy recommendation for those who didn’t catch it the first time round. The ‘light’ in the title sums things up nicely – you get game mechanics usually reserved for massive RPG epics in a concise package that’s as beautifully refreshing as when it was first released. It’s a shame to see framerate hitches – however occasional they may be – but they’re not enough to cast a shadow on this delightful adventure.
Gavin Lane · Oct 10, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All in all, Child of Light can be simple and easy, and played with low stress, an experience breezy. The aesthetic is one up there with the best, and if you avoid enemy encounters bosses can be quite a test. Without a doubt here’s a title that’s unique but subtle, yet demands your attention and a look; I’ll hear no rebuttal. Well-suited to those who want a creative RPG that both sticks to and deviates from this genre’s normalcy.
Jordan Rudek · Oct 10, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A beautiful game from start to finish, Child of Light is a game that plays as good as it looks. Taking inspiration from classic fairy tales and bringing them to life beautifully, Child of Light is a game that should not be missed and certainly feels like an early contender for Game of the Year!
Charlie Large · Jul 08, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Eventually we have to leave the realms of fairy tales behind and face the challenges of reality once more, but Lemuria is the kind of fantasy realm that stays with you as long as you remain a child somewhere in your heart.
Carolyn Petit · Jul 07, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Child of Light is a game that should not be missed, especially by RPG fans. If someone asked me to give them an example of why video games are considered art, Child of Light would be that game. Child of Light is easily an early contender for Game of the Year.
Garri Bagdasarov · May 16, 2014 Reviewed onRead full review - I wished I had a PC install. What great tragedy we must endure. On the hasty road to be the saviour. The journey was bountiful. Too bad the end is pitiful. For the price of a lunch and dessert. You can own this great effort. I wholeheartedly recommend. So spend! Don’t follow the trend. Trust me, I’m your friend.
Jae Lee · May 14, 2014 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Child of Light is often a lot of fun, but it's simplistic nature gets in the way. This beautiful game is also hampered by bad writing and a number of irritations.
Stephen Gillespie · May 08, 2014 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1, PS3, X360, Wii URead full review - It's a shame that it takes so long to find its groove, and even when it does, it's not as if the story becomes markedly better, the dialogue any less obnoxiously opaque, nor the gameplay any less rote. But in those few hours, you catch a glimpse of a stronger, more thoughtful, more engaging experience than the gorgeous, but disappointingly empty one that makes up too much of Child of Light.
Alex Navarro · May 07, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Child of Light is a beautifully rendered, fun, and fairly engrossing RPG that every fan of the genre should try. It does enough different to stand out from the pack, and I’m talking about more than its artistic styling. It won’t drain forty plus hours of your free time, but for $15? Yeah, this one’s worth the three Starbucks coffees it’ll cost you and won’t leave a bad taste in your mouth in the process.
William Murphy · May 03, 2014 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1, PS3, X360, Wii URead full review - Beautiful painting-style art, moving music, refreshing and simple gameplay, and a multifaceted, emotional storyline make this game well worth the time and money.
