· Dec 15, 2025 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Call of the Sea is a first-person puzzle adventure set in 1934, where you play as Norah, a woman searching for her missing husband on a mysterious South Pacific island.
· Sep 23, 2025 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Call of the Sea is a relatively short game, coming in at around 5-6 hours playtime, but it does seem to drag on a little towards the end as the puzzles become more and more complex. The story is a captivating mystery romance, in which Lovecraftian twists and turns keep you more than engaged.
Sean Christie · Jun 09, 2021 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The game lacks all the heavy and tormenting atmosphere that made famous the works of the American author. Call of the Sea remains an adventure game that will be enjoyed by the fans of this genre.
Cosmin Vasile · Jun 07, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Call of the Sea is an immensely enjoyable puzzle game that manages to expertly combine engaging brainteasers with narrative, linear exploration, a sense of wonder, and Lovecraftian surrealism, in what is essentially a story about the lengths some will go to for love and companionship.
Richard Walker · May 11, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The game is plagued with hammy dialogue that makes it feel totally campy and like an old B-movie, but not altogether terrible when coupled with the Lovecraftian influence it draws on. Call of the Sea is a mostly fun puzzle game that falls short on the mystery it tries to have you unveil. While it looks aesthetically pleasing and ticks a lot of boxes for its period setting, the story is lacklustre and predictable.
Jade Sayers · May 11, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - I relished the spectacle of a stranded ship, its hull gashed with Godzilla-sized claw marks. And, in the wavering depths of a dream sequence, Norah swimming down towards a pair of glowing eyes. Still, that sort of thing is par for the course, when you’re in Lovecraftland. What rescues the game from the descent into cliché isn’t a rise to sanity. Nor is it the call of the sea. It’s Harry.
Josh Wise · Feb 05, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Call of the Sea is a visually stunning game offering a compelling story hidden behind a mixed bag of puzzles and a few frustrating pacing decisions.
Kate Mitchell Jewett · Jan 23, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While its story relies on well-worn clichés, Call of the Sea is an otherwise compelling supernatural tale of self-discovery that will dazzle your eyes, delight your ears, and delightfully rack your brain.
Joe Keeley · Jan 08, 2021 Reviewed on PC, Series X|S, XB1Read full review - Call of the Sea is a properly constructed game that has its focus on the story and the puzzle aspects. By properly blending every element you find in a game, they make an enjoyable experience for those longing for an adventure. With a story full of surprises and mystical puzzles, colorful and interesting graphics, and even proper sound, this is simply a good adventure/puzzling game.
