  • A somewhat droll campaign will greet players of Modern Warfare II. It's a short bombastic romp with some fun gunplay moments and fantastic graphics. The multiplayer, however, is a miss as it is no longer a properly combined entity and the lack of replayability is disappointing. A recommendation for CoD fans but for anyone even slightly on the fence perhaps keep shopping or waiting for a sale.

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a fairly decent addition to the franchise, and multiplayer enthusiasts will have a blast trying out all the different modes. Sadly, the game feels unpolished and still has a lot of bugs. The campaign is also quite fun to play through, but it’s not the main course of this bullet-rich dish.

It was a joy to not have to clear one corridor of enemies after another for the entirety of its run. Not to mention the stellar graphics on the campaign mode, combine all that with what is arguably the best Call of Duty multiplayer experience we have had in years, and you end up with a recipe for success that Infinity Ward is all too familiar with cooking up.

  • Let’s start with my usual domain – the single player campaign. Not gonna lie, some of the other story mode campaigns in the series have felt like a bit of a slog to me.Modern Warfare II, on the other hand, was a pleasant surprise. The Call of Duty campaigns are known for their nonstop action and somewhat bombastic set pieces, and they definitely delivered on that front. Maybe I’ve just played too many Naughty Dog games, but this time around, I couldn’t help but get the feeling that they took some notes from the famed single player developer.

  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare II doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel at all, proposing a more refined and varied version of the Call of Duty experience Infinity Ward know how to make. All the movement and gunplay improvements of 2019’s reboot are back with further improvements, there’s a bigger than ever weapon variety, plus various tweaks to the map designs, the perk system and general flow of the matches that make it a generally more pleasant experience.

  • Regardless of which direction future content takes until the release of the next game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II gives fans of the franchise what they expect and despite some bugs, is one of the more engaging and enjoyable releases for the franchise.

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is Call of Duty at its finest in terms of settings and overall gameplay. You won’t have an emotional attachment to the campaign, but you’ll find excitement in late-game missions. Multiplayer and coop missions are where the fun lies, but sadly, it all feels more of the same with prettier graphics and sound design.

  • That, to me, is what Modern Warfare II is all about — feeding you challenges and rewards with unmatched regularity, and letting you figure out how you’d like to best enjoy it for yourself.

  • There are some missing features though: the battle pass won’t launch until nearer the end of November, while hardcore playlists don’t exist. The multiplayer maps are decent enough, but nothing overly spectacular, but at least the multiplayer feels mostly balanced. The campaign was a great experience, with a small visual glitch here and there.

  • It's not unplayable, but there are so many flaws that consistently and almost constantly crop up. The lack of post-launch support makes it feel as though Call of Duty is a victim of its own success, and it really doesn't matter what state it's in or how quickly it gets fixed because millions of people have already purchased it, and it'll all be forgotten before the launch of the next one.
