- In conclusion, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a great package, with a fun campaign and a multiplayer which shines by its use of Modern Warfare’s solid foundation mixed with Treyarch dynamic map design. It isn’t perfect, though, as the campaign isn’t as remarkable as previous Black Ops entries, but it definitely revived my love for the Black Ops series after the forgettable Black Ops 3 and 4. The balancing definitely needs some work too, and as of right now, the zombies are pretty bare bone with only one map.
Nhakos · Sep 20, 2021 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War combines a bombastic campaign that desperately attempts to shoehorn as much classic CoD action as it can into its rather short running time, with a solid multiplayer suite that feels a little light on exciting new modes and content at launch.
PJ O'Reilly · Jun 15, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Overall, I love the old-school feels of Black Ops in Cold War and I love the storyline. All of the modes are fun to play and offer a lot for old players and new players alike. It is fun to get back into the action with players from all consoles and on PC to make the action that much better with cross-play.
Chris Bowman · Jan 13, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The question of whether to pick up Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War on the PC is situational, despite it being a solid title. If you're the type of player who likes the campaigns that each entry brings forth, then you'll be fine with Cold War. The branching paths of the short campaign give it some replayability beyond simply increasing the difficulty.
Cody Medellin · Dec 24, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War continues the trend of adding a ton of bang for your buck. While I don’t participate in some of the modes there is still enough here to keep me interested enough to make it worth my time and money. The campaign is the best I have played in a while.
Ken McKown · Dec 10, 2020 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - What I didn’t expect from the new Call of Duty was downtime, and the suggestion, at least in the first half, that guns, while great for going in blazing, can provide just as potent a thrill when holstered.
Josh Wise · Dec 08, 2020 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - There isn't anything groundbreaking in this game that we haven't seen in previous iterations, but there are a lot of little things that make a huge difference as you really dig into the game. The Armada map is a wholly unique experience that allows you to hide in the water and zipline between warships. The "VIP Escort" game mode takes the popular "Search & Destroy" formula and enhances it with a player-controlled objective. It's these little things that make Black Ops Cold War easy to appreciate as you continue to play. When you first jump in, it may seem chaotic or frustrating, especially if you've been playing a lot of Modern Warfare, but when you give it some time and give yourself a minute to adjust to the gameplay, you'll see that there's plenty to love. The return of Zombies is really just the icing on the cake.
Charlie Ridgely · Dec 02, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - I personally still replay the mission with the arcade shootout just to get a little '80s cheeseball energy going, but I think the strategy of overwhelming people with as much content and as many shooter modes as possible might be starting to wear thin. We're not there quite yet, but I'm hoping the next Black Ops might have just a bit more than poking at my childhood memories of a culturally iconic president.
Redmond Carolipio · Dec 01, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Another year, another Call of Duty entry, and while at this point in time Black Ops Cold War doesn’t stand out from the crowd, the roadmap Activision has laid out certainly looks interesting. With loads of free content coming soon, including new maps for Multiplayer and Zombies, the full potential of the game feels like it’s yet to be unveiled.
Aaron Price · Nov 28, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a decent FPS that will have that generic ‘more of the same’ feeling surrounding it. The single-player campaign is quite strong, although if it’s worth the €/$69,99/£65 the PS5 version costs (which includes the PS4 one) or even the cheaper PS4 standalone version’s price is quite arguable for a game which barely innovates on its predecessors. We’re sure that diehard fans of the game will have a field-day with this new iteration of the game, but casual fans looking for something new will have to make do with the campaign of this title.
