- After it is all said and done, Broforce is a great title that feels at home on the Switch. This high-octane, action-flick parody really gets the blood rushing, from the insane boss battles, wide array of heroes, and great side objectives. This title is the perfect game on the go for every thrill-seeking Switch owner.
Dawson Helton · Sep 17, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Broforce is a hilariously explosive 2D action-platformer with a memorable catch-'em-all cast of action movie caricatures. The action may be a little one-note, but when that note is as big and bold as it is here, you'll be all-too-willing to disengage your brain and engage your trigger finger. After playing through the seemingly unending series of critically-acclaimed, high-brow 2D action titles on Switch, this is the perfect way to unwind.
Jon Mundy · Sep 14, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All in all, it’s another home run for Devolver. Fast-paced destructive gameplay, a great roster of everyone’s favorite action movie heroes, and a variety of locations and enemies. All of this available either solo or in couch co-op for 2-4 people and tied up in a neat little over-the-top patriotic package, making this a must-play for anyone aspiring to spread true greatness throughout the soon-to-be-free world.
Thomas Medina · Sep 13, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - My time with Broforce followed an arc of first loving the concept, then being exhausted by it before coming back around and loving the blend of nonsense bro jokes and amusing gunplay and levels. This all works best with a bros playing locally, but even if you’re playing solo (brolo?), Broforce is still a fun romp.
Neal Ronaghan · Sep 11, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - After finishing the too-long campaign, there's an Ironbro mode (where each Bro only has one life) and a level editor to tinker with. It seems robust, but I didn't spend much time with it. This all adds up to a decent amount of bro-time if you really want it, but I'm fairly certain whoever you play this with will end up being a not-bro for a little while. Broforce could have been a fun "Hoo-rah 'Murica" romp, but it comes with artificial difficulty and bugs that aren't worth dealing with.
Zack Furniss · Mar 14, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Fine-tuned visuals and audio serve to make its patriotic bent all the more entertaining, and even though performance issues knock the game down a peg for now, there's not much else that keeps this guilty pleasure of a game from resounding triumphantly like fireworks on the Fourth of July.
Joey Thurmond · Mar 08, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - When I reminisce on my time with Broforce, I remember the great gameplay and funny moments – both scripted and unscripted. Unfortunately, I’ll also remember a game that can be unnecessarily frustrating. Luckily, in between those roadblocks, Broforce is a great retro action game that delivers nonstop excitement.
Brian Shea · Nov 12, 2015 Reviewed on PC - Developer Free Lives has an obvious love affair with the Rambos et al which shows up in spades in this game. They also go out of their way to engage their fans and make the game as open and democratic a platform as possible. With more characters and levels on the way, Broforce is positioned to kick ass and take no prisoners for a long time to come.
Lou Sytsma · Nov 10, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Beneath Broforce’s hyperbolic chest-thumping action movie-inspired silliness lies an extremely polished run ’n gun platformer. Simple and reliable but nuanced and ever-changing (thanks to the constantly rotating characters) Broforce is testosterrific. If you could watch Commando on a SNES, this is what it would look like.
Luke Reilly · Oct 19, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Perfection is perhaps not the point. It's a joyful, giggling parody, a love letter to action fantasies, wasted youths and making the noise of a machine gun with your lips. Hell, if we’re happy to watch those endlessly repetitive action movies for so long, why should this be any different?
