- That's not an argument against it though. In a way, it's kind of ironic. Braid is free to be interpreted as a game or a piece of art. Either way, it's just as delightful.
Sammy Barker · Dec 23, 2009 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - I was initially pretty skeptical about Braid, and it took me some time to get past the game's severe melancholy. I eventually found the game's story and the way it plays against the gameplay to be academically interesting, and the game's final payoff is terrific, but it's the ingenuity of the mechanics that makes Braid so engaging.
Ryan Davis · Nov 25, 2009 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - Braid is a beautiful, smart and challenging game and certainly worth checking out. Although the difficulty can be a little surprising at times, the overall experience is rewarding enough to warrant working through the puzzles. Despite the short length and somewhat limited replay value, Braid's artistic vision and intelligent design is more than enough reason to download the game right away. Jonathan Blow's notoriety in the indie landscape is well deserved.
Ryan Clements · Nov 13, 2009 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - In an age when many games feel like clones of one another or are designed to be easy to beat, Braid sticks to its guns and delivers a rewarding and memorable experience that's definitely worth checking out. It's like an invigorating breath of fresh air, and proof that a handful of independent developers can create games that raise the bar for others.
Jason Ocampo · Apr 13, 2009 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Before I sat down, I thought this was going to be the hardest review I ever had to write. I had such a dramatic reaction to the events in the game that I was afraid my emotions would dictate my final verdict. The more I thought about it, though, the more I realized just how easy this review was going to be. Braid is a masterpiece -- a true work of art. Simple as that.
Jim Sterling · Aug 11, 2008 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Braid is worth every penny. The captivating ending sequence, which makes use of your rewind ability in a jaw-dropping new way, provides the exclamation point on this remarkable game, but the adventure is consistently engaging throughout the entire ride. The clever puzzles alone are enough to make this an adventure worth taking. Braid's deep and mesmerizing tale is evergreen: it is outside of and beyond time. It will never get old.
Tom Mc Shea · Aug 07, 2008 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - When Xbox LIVE Arcade was announced there was this hope that it would be a platform for original, quirky games that would otherwise struggle to find a publisher. The service has certainly seen some incredibly high quality games (Geometry Wars 2 just last week is amazingly polished), but Braid finally fulfils that promise. It's a game like nothing you've ever played before and something we can't recommend highly enough.
Tom Orry · Aug 07, 2008 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Braid is stellar and a true accomplishment. It not only represents the potential for more creative and innovative titles to reach the masses via downloadable service, but it stands as a game you won't forget. Between the puzzles and its unique presentation, this is a game that you won't forget easily. There isn't much reason to go back once you've beaten it, but the overall experience is so fantastic that it doesn't feel overpriced.
Jason Lauritzen · Aug 06, 2008 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Xbox Live Arcade needs more games like Braid. Heck, gaming on all platforms needs more titles like this. Imaginative, innovative, and engrossing, Braid is a spectacular achievement. If only the experience lasted a little longer and there weren't as many puzzles with singular solutions. Despite its short length and robust pricing ($15), Braid is definitely worth downloading.
Hilary Goldstein · Aug 04, 2008 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Braid has some fantastic puzzle gaming, a unique aesthetic style and one of the best endings in gaming. These great qualities are slightly countered by a short playthrough time and lack of awe-inspiring visual moments, but there is no question that Braid is still a great game. If you are a puzzle fan you owe it to yourself to pick this game up, just don’t expect the fun to last for too long.
