- A great game in terms of design and presentation, Blaster Master Zero 2 showcases how to do nostalgia right; by tweaking the familiar mechanics to the games advantage, making it feel fresh and unique.
Robert Grosso · Apr 08, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Blaster Master Zero 2 does a great job of coming off as a fun, difficulty-laden retro game of years past, while not feeling like its cheating the player with artificial difficulty. While some may look for a game a little more relaxed, those who want a combo Metroidvania side-scrolling dungeon crawling top-down shooter with lots to explore and lots to shoot at, skipping Blaster Master Zero 2 would be doing yourself a disservice. At a price of only $10 in the eShop, you’ll more than get your money’s worth.
Bill Gallon · Apr 02, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Quite simply, I had a ton of fun playing through Blaster Master Zero 2. It was pretty much exactly what I wanted in a sequel to a beloved game franchise of mine. The game progresses through and uncovers new abilities at a swift and balanced pace. The weapons are super fun to discover and mess with, and the very nature of what makes Blaster Master gameplay so excellent has never shone so bright and wonderful. If you love great retro games, you won’t want to miss out on Blaster Master Zero 2.
Perry Burkum · Mar 29, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Blaster Master Zero 2 is a clear improvement on its predecessor. The graphics are slightly better, the story is better written, and the soundtrack is more diverse; I could go on and on. Maybe Zero 2 won't make a convert out of you if you didn’t enjoy the first, but it is well worth exploring for fans of Inti Creates and Blaster Master.
Peter Glagowski · Mar 28, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Whether you’re a long-time fan of the series or are just getting into it for the first time, Blaster Master Zero 2 is a stellar and enjoyable experience from stem to stern, and just goes to further cement Inti Creates’ legacy as one of the best developers in the retro gaming business.
Mitch Vogel · Mar 26, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Blaster Master Zero 2 is the much improved sequel the original deserved. Everything here is superior to to it, to the point where it renders it redundant. The story has more going on with actual NES-style cut-scenes with beautifully drawn pixel art.
Albert Lichi · May 23, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Blaster Master Zero 2 is a wonderful if sometimes difficult platformer that makes good as a sequel to one of the Switch’s earliest hidden gems. It’s by no means expensive, either; it’s definitely a game worth picking up.
Liam Langan · Apr 27, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Inti Creates' revival of the Blaster Master series continues. With novel mechanics, new characters, and an ambitious expansion of the franchise universe, Blaster Master Zero 2Â ranks among the better indie games so far this year. Its fragmented structure and repeat boss encounters are downers, but its entertaining action-platforming gameplay are more than enough to outweigh them. Here's hoping for Blaster Master Zero 3.
Evan Norris · Apr 02, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Blaster Master Zero was a phenomenal remake of an 8-bit classic so being able to finally enjoy a true sequel is an absolute treat. If you're up for a challenging and rewarding retro experience then playing Blaster Master Zero 2 is a must.
A.J. Maciejewski · Mar 21, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Blaster Master Zero 2 is a fantastic example of a retro reboot done right. The gameplay is smooth and engaging and it’s complimented well with the urgent planet-hopping plot. Just like with most sequels, it makes sense to play Blaster Master Zero 2 after you’ve completed its predecessor, but you’re absolutely going to have a much better time with the sequel.
