  • Best Month Ever! is truly unique in its premise and setting. Stepping into the shoes of a terminally ill single mother was gut-wrenching, and navigating 1969 through the eyes of her biracial son gave me anxiety. Although I do wish my choices had a bigger impact and that more focus was given to preparing Mitch for the future instead of hanging on by my fingernails to what felt like Louise’s wild last ride, Best Month Ever! was different enough to keep me going.

  • Best Month Ever! is a short, enjoyable narrative that perhaps suffers from high ambitions that don't quite pay off. Glitches in the game can really take you out of what would otherwise be a fluid experience.

  • Best Month Ever is still a very fun game due to its touching story and difficult choices. If you really get into the game, it helps you understand how hard parenting can be. It illustrates that what you do and say matters (quite literally, because your choices affect which of nine possible endings you’ll get). Being a single mother can be very tough, but Best Month shows there are always good moments within the bad.

  • Best Month Ever! is not the best experience ever, and there are plenty of other games that handle these types of heavy themes better. In short, Best Month Ever! fails to be a great example of a heavy story that is handled well both in terms of the development of the story and the characters, the mechanics are clunky and frustrating, and the sound design is not the best- But it is great in the art department.

  • Best Month Ever! has an important, unique story to tell that charts the course of a dying mother and her beautiful young boy. Like the road trip itself, however, bumps occur along the way that detract from the experience. While checkered with flaws, the story hits home and meets a satisfying, albeit sad, conclusion. Some folks won’t be able to see past the jankiness, while others will appreciate the experience for what it is.

  • Best Month Ever! tries to tell a complex and loving story but the inherent cultural misunderstandings that come from race and nationality make those efforts fall flat and mar what is otherwise a serviceable narrative about love and family.

  • What’s unfortunate is that Best Month Ever also unabashedly pines for several playthroughs, as evident in its myriad endings, but the vehicle it’s run on guzzles your stamina and patience like the least fuel efficient of cars. Unfortunately, I only have the capacity for a single excursion or two; I don’t think I can stay awake as the road trip sluggishly cruises towards its destination.

  • It’s a narrative adventure with not very challenging gameplay, but it does tell an interesting and unique story from a different era, helped along by some intriguing characters and sub-stories. The odd glitch doesn’t ever ruin the experience and I for one am glad that a film school has experimented with video games and able to provide such a great result.

Proste sceny, krótkie dialogi i nic więcej.
