- Beacon Pines is the type of adventure game that's perfectly suited for genre newcomers and those seeking to get away from the point-and-click style while retaining the genre's deeper storytelling. The story remains fascinating, since it clashes with the idyllic town setting and cast of cute characters. The ability to uncover every branch of the story tree via your discovered actions drives the desire to see every possible outcome even, if it is forced on you via the game design. The overall gameplay length ensures that it doesn't overstay its welcome, but some players may not like the semi-visual novel flow of most of the game.
Cody Medellin · Apr 04, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Beacon Pines presents a rich world filled with deeply considered, not to mention adorable, characters. The beautifully crafted art, paired with a soundtrack that both captures and sets the mood, make for a wholly enjoyable experience.
Michelle See-Tho · Oct 26, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Beacon Pines is a well-thought-out and adorable little mystery narrative game that is a perfect way to relax and unravel an ever-changing story that you control.
Devin Shea · Oct 09, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, Beacon Pines is an engaging choose-your-own-adventure story with multiple branching pathways. The variety of characters, excellent graphics and score, and overall narrative about a town in peril combine to create a wonderfully addictive game.
Jemma Casson · Oct 06, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Beacon Pines is utterly charming yet wonderfully creepy, with a surprisingly thoughtful narrative despite its cute characters and storybook aesthetic.
Sarah Kipling · Sep 28, 2022 Reviewed on PC, SwitchRead full review - Beacon Pines is a unique blend of sweet and sinister that proves difficult to put down — in fact, I couldn’t stop myself from playing it from start to finish in one go! If you’re looking for something charmingly cute yet deceptively dark with a clever mechanic and rich world, Beacon Pines invites you to solve its many mysteries and find the true end to this troubled tale.
Heather Johnson Yu · Sep 23, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Beacon Pines simply won’t be a hit for everyone. And while its story and gameplay mechanics are interesting and fun, they aren’t necessarily memorable. This is a game that will certainly draw in a select few, but a smaller group will add it to their list of favorites.
Pam K Ferdinand · Sep 21, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Beacon Pines says everything it needs to say, and the post-credit was just a bit too much. It could have been something else baked into the dream state of the fishing expeditions with your Father, but I don’t think it needed to be explicitly at the end of the game.
Oliver Shellding · Sep 21, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It’s pretty easy to see that its art and music are both top notch. Ultimately, this is also a story good enough that I’d love more people to see it so I can talk to them about it. It might not be the longest game, and the thrill of the exploration may bottleneck a bit at the end, but the changing course, different routes, and ultimate ending of Beacon Pines are still more than worth exploring for any fan of narrative adventure.
TJ Denzer · Sep 21, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Beacon Pines is a gorgeously rendered experience with fantastic storybook aesthetics, a metatextual narrator who tells you that things should have turned out better so asks you to go back and try again, a great cast of characters, a genuinely great narrative about the future versus the past in a struggling town, and it has an interesting gameplay gimmick in the Charm and Turning Point systems. Those systems may not be immensely robust, but they work well for what they’re trying to be.

Beacon Pines is a cute and creepy adventure set within a mysterious book. You play as both the reader of the book and its main character, Luka. UNCOVER THE TRUTH Something strange is happening at the old warehouse, and Luka and his friends seem to be the only ones taking notice. Sneak out late, make new friends, uncover hidden truths, and collect words that will change the course of fate! REWRITE PAST EVENTS BY USING CHARMS While helping Luka investigate the strange goings-on in Beacon Pines, you’ll collect special golden charms, each with a word engraved on it. These charms can be used at certain turning points in the story to fill in a blank word and drastically change everything that follows. DISCOVER DIFFERENT STORY PATHS As the book's reader, you’ll navigate the story’s turning points using The Chronicle: an interactive story tree that branches and grows along with your choices. Exploring one set of events can unlock new charms to use on another branch, leading you to jump back and forth between entirely different versions of the story in order to unravel the mysteries at the heart of Beacon Pines.
