  • Bayonetta 2 is a perfect choice to port over to the Nintendo Switch. The eclectic action and story is a treat on its own, but it’s amazing how great it looks and plays when in handheld mode.

  • Dare I say that Bayonetta 2 on the Switch is a much better choice than the Wii U version, even though both games are basically the same in terms of gameplay and content? Yes, I dare. Not only does the game feature a much more stable framerate and a much friendlier controller than the clunky mess that was the Wii U Gamepad, but the fact you can now play this over-the-top action gem anywhere you feel like due to the Switch’s portability is more than enough to guarantee a purchase, even if it’s a bit expensive for a port of a last-gen title.

  • Bayonetta 2 is an absolute masterpiece that should be experienced even if the character action game genre is not normally your cup of tea. It gleams with creativity and polish in absolutely every department. Had you asked me to find issue with the original Wii U release, I would have told you that significant frame rate drops can be an problem. Given the Switch’s correction of this singular issue, I have yet to identify a single thing to take issue with in Bayonetta 2 on Switch. I’ll let you know if one day I find something.

  • The queen of stylish action has now made her way to the Nintendo Switch, and along with Bayonetta herself comes two of the best action adventures money can buy. While both games have minor nitpicks and there, overall they’re fantastic experiences enjoyable by casual and hardcore players alike, giving form to quality re-releases on Nintendo’s latest platform.

  • There’s a good reason action game fans will be looking to buy Bayonetta 1 for the fourth time and Bayonetta 2 for the second time. To create a series that includes an incredibly deep combat system, an absolutely insane story with the characters, music and gameplay to match the insanity, all while managing to satisfy both the casual and hardcore crowd is certainly no easy task. Bayonetta 1 & 2 rank as two of the best action games of all time, and now you can play them on the go. What’s not to love?

  • It's undeniably disappointing that they're less attractive in docked mode, but nevertheless they're still wildly enjoyable and engaging, just not as sharp as you'd probably expect. Available separately via the Switch eShop, or bundled together if you buy a physical copy of Bayonetta 2, the Bayonetta games are bold, action-packed and bursting with innuendo, something that you can't say about many games loitering in the hybrid console's extensive library.

Playing through Bayonetta 2 on Nintendo Switch allowed me to relive some of the most exhilarating, action-packed, hack-and-slash moments from the last decade of gaming. The framerate improvements alone make it a better experience than the Wii U version, and the amiibo-activated costumes at least put a fun spin on it even if there’s no substantial new content for returning players. It’s disappointing that the Switch version can’t manage more than 720p on a big screen, but with that said, Bayonetta 2’s fantastic art style holds up well.

Bayonetta 2 is more than just a good action game, it is a fantastic addition to the already stellar Wii U lineup, and yet another reason to own the console. The fluidity of the combat and the unique visuals really help this title stand out among other action games, and I am extremely happy it got the chance to be made. Sure I would love to see a third game down the line, but for now this package will satisfy fans for months to come. A definite must own.

  • Bayonetta 2 is a solid game. It utilizes a simple yet interesting combo system, the visuals are gorgeous as they highlight your attacks and the enemies you battle, and the music and sound effects are top notch too. Although gameplay can be repetitive it still can be fun. What I did note though was that after the initial play through I can’t see too much replay value.

  • It goes without saying that I recommend this game. Bayonetta 2 is a fantastic Action title, and just a fantastic game in general – in a year where it seems like hyped game after hyped game have turned into massive disappointments, it’s a wonderful feeling to see a title that truly stepped up to the plate and exceeds the expectations placed on it. Bayonetta 2 sets the new standard for Character-Action games to come, and is a game that any Action fan should play at least once in their lives.
