- This is war imagined by children during make-believe. A boy’s idea of heroism. Victory coming after a roller coaster ride instead of months-long stalemates while politicians blather. It’s a victory screen and a point tally. It is how warfare is sold to the public. A hyper-real color saturated blast of special effects and Pavlovian rewards.
Nick Diamon · Nov 03, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Battlefield 1 had a lot of hype behind it having one of the most liked trailers to ever hit YouTube and thankfully it mostly delivers on the promise of its early previews. With a great mix of trench and vehicular combat, an impressive and focused array of fun and archaic weapons, maps that dynamically change in natural ways, a fantastic new mode in ‘Operations’ and most surprising of all, an actually decent – if somewhat short – single player campaign, Battlefield 1 offers a fantastic package for shooter fans.
Rory Wood · Oct 28, 2016 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - It’s an absolutely fantastic game. It shows the courage to break the mold of the established FPS settings, by bringing forth a nearly forgotten era, that comes packed with a lot of charm of its own. On top of that, it does so with tight and impactful gameplay that will keep the fans busy for a long time.
Giuseppe Nelva · Oct 28, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The Battlefield multiplayer has consistently been one of the better experiences, and with the only real drawback this time around being some lengthy load times, Battlefield is again in a class all its own. This is the best Battlefield has been in a while, and Battlefield 1 has set a new bar for what we should expect from not just this series, but contemporaries as well.
Luke Brown · Oct 26, 2016 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Battlefield 1 might seem like a step backward, but it moves the genre forward in several areas. Mostly the campaign, which is the most polished, and enjoyable campaign I have played in years. I cannot recommend it enough. The multiplayer feels great, but it is still Battlefield, so if that has never been your cup of tea, this entry likely won’t change that. Even with its minor pitfalls Battlefield 1 feels like the best entry in the series in a long time. It stands out as yet another great game in the lineup of 2016 already chock full of excellent experiences.
Ken McKown · Oct 26, 2016 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Battlefield 1 has done something I didn't expect: it's made me want to play Battlefield regularly again. BF4 was fun, but it didn't feel entirely new coming off of BF3. It's a nice change of pace to jump into a game that isn't taking me to space, or onto a futuristic battlefield. Instead, you can ride a horse into battle alongside one of the first tanks ever put into service.
Ron Whitaker · Oct 26, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Battlefield 1 is a fantastic game, but not necessarily a fantastic Battlefield game. The boots on the ground multiplayer is second to none, but the vehicular action which was always the focus of Battlefield has moved to the wayside, replaced by run and gun action and a surplus of snipers picking people off. That said, like Star Wars Battlefront it’s an absolute feast for the eyes, and half the fun is the visual spectacle of seeing just what insanity can unfold when 64 players are given hundreds of ludicrously dangerous toys to play with.
Joffy S · Oct 26, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Battlefield 1 might not be the best Battlefield game, or the best FPS game I've ever played, but it succeeds at doing what it needs to do. It feels like Battlefield, it works like Battlefield, and it has plenty of opportunities for amazing things to happen that have only ever happened in a Battlefield game.
Josh Hawkins · Oct 25, 2016 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - Battlefield 1 remains a fulfilling experience on par with this year’s other premier shooters. I get the impression from some commenters out there that I’m supposed to dislike this one, but I’m going to have to disappoint them – Battlefield 1 has provided me with a damn good time and I don’t regret it.
Jim Sterling · Oct 24, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Shooting down the blimp for the first time or blowing up a tank with dynamite gives you that great sense of accomplishment, that you are making a difference on the battlefield.
