- Can it be patched into some sort of better state? Honestly, it's hard to see how they can fix Batman: Arkham Knight to a satisfactory degree, and it feels like a step too far to have even included this final chapter in the collection for Switch. A great ending to an amazing trilogy, but just completely broken for now.
PJ O’Reilly · Dec 10, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Rocksteady have done everything they possibly could with Batman—except for, perhaps, justice to the Batmobile—and this is the right time for Bruce to hang up the cowl. Ultimately, despite the feeble villain and the frustrating amount of forced Batmobile combat, the feeling of being Batman in Arkham Knight is still as wonderfully empowering as it’s been since Asylum. But none of that matters if you can’t run the damn thing.
Andy Kelly · Oct 30, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Luckily, Batman: Arkham Knight really shines when you’re set free to roam. Gliding around Gotham City is a source of absolute joy, and I spent quite a lot of time just zipping between skyscrapers and exploring every nook and cranny. When we aren’t cornered into a forced mechanic or the other, Rocksteady’s latest game is doubtlessly ten-worthy. Ultimately, this game has quite a few flaws, including some unexpected ones, but the good points largely outweigh the negatives.
Giuseppe Nelva · Jul 11, 2015 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - Finally, the visuals are outstanding. Being the first Arkham game built from the ground up for the new consoles, it looks stunning. While the entire thing takes place at night, in the rain, it still looks stellar. Wet pavement is the new hotness when it comes to graphical effects, and Arkham Knight delivers. Seeing the raindrops form on his cowl and the crisp sheen of the world really stand out.
Ken McKown · Jul 01, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - In the end, how good is Arkham Knight? It’s the best Batman game you’ll play and by that measure, the best superhero game to date. The identity of the Arkham Knight is controversial, but it works when you fit it in to the overall story arc of the game. The plot weaves a taut, psychological campaign that brings you into the darkest areas of Gotham including the murky and even darker depths of Batman’s psyche.
Doug Mercer · Jul 01, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - By incorporating the Batmobile into the mix and tastefully building on established mechanics, Rocksteady Studios have simultaneously freshened up and rounded out the open-world formula of Arkham City, making Arkham Knight the most complete Batman experience to date.
Dave Letcavage · Jul 01, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - It's a shame the game focuses so much on the Batmobile, because even that provides a welcome change of pace in small doses. Unfortunately, Arkham Knight doesn't deliver the Batmobile in small doses, and it turns out to be the most intrusive part of the experience. At least the rest of the game makes up for the Batmobile and the occasional narrative misstep.
Anthony LaBella · Jun 29, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Rocksteady have successfully crafted a believable Gotham, providing hours of absorbing and rewarding gameplay alongside a captivating storyline that is surprisingly daring. Newcomers may find the experience to be a little daunting due to the game’s assumption that players are already familiar with its gameplay systems, but nethertheless, this is a joy to behold for open world and action adventure fans. There’s never been a better time to “be the Batman!”
Rich · Jun 29, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The combat and stealth are the same as before, but their adjustments and brevity keep the familiar Batman sections just different enough to feel new. As intended, the Batmobile is a nice change of pace, even if its numerous sections get old and nearly overstay their welcome. From start to finish, there is constantly something interesting to take in and someone interesting to take down, making Batman: Arkham Knight the inspiring ride we deserve for the duration of its 10 to 25 hour experience. Until next time, hero.
Edward Dang · Jun 28, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Thankfully, Arkham Knight sees Rocksteady becoming more confident in its design within the larger scope of an entire city, and despite a few uneven spots, this is overall a satisfying way to wrap up what the developer has referred to as its trilogy of Arkham games. This trilogy represents a really impressive body of work, and it leaves me excited to see what the studio turns its attention to next, superhero or otherwise.
