  • The storyline is engaging enough, and Lord Berrian is enough to make any gamer girl swoon. The only thing about it I can criticize is that I don’t think it has anything that makes it stand out among other games of this genre. It has a really good base, but these games are pretty standard and I’d love to see Pathos really push the genre to make Bannermen stand out, as it’s clearly put together by a team who really cares about the project.

  • Altogether, I wanted to like what Bannermen had to offer. The graphics and the overall unit design is nice. Unfortunately, the clunky UI and the lack of any real identity makes for an altogether boring and shallow RTS experience. I’d love to see what Pathos Interactive can change in future updates, but right now Bannermen feels like it was released way too early. Hopefully some new updates will release in the future that will make revisiting this little title worth it.

  • Bannermen wears its inspirations proudly but struggles to live up to its own heroes.

  • Presumably some of the bugs and related issues might eventually get patched out; one thing that does not change though, is the core of the game. Given it is mostly a clone of a game over 15 years old, for all intents and purposes it is worse than all across the board. Almost every aspect of [i[Warcraft III is better than this game. This would need a massive overhaul to come close to recommending.

  • Bannermen’s appreciation of genre greats can be easily seen through the cracks in its shoddy construction. However, in between a single faction with a small, uninspired roster, bland story and writing, and very few options in terms of tactics and strategy, it’s tough to recommend. As rooted as it is in the genre’s past, it’s nowhere close to mastering what made RTS titles of yore great, ultimately being just a flimsy, soulless imitator.

  • Bannermen could have certainly used some more time, a higher budget, and maybe a few additional factions for multiplayer and skirmish modes. When all is said and done, Bannermen isn’t a horrible game; it’s just a standard one. It tries to pay homage to its roots as a real-time strategy game without bringing anything new to the table.
