- Despite its short length and annoying grind sections, I was impressed with its amazing presentation, slick controls, excellent game feel, and the way the developers balanced out its difficulty by adding rankings at the end of each level, essentially making this game appealing for newcomers and veterans alike.
Leo Faria · Aug 13, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - All in all, Azure Striker Gunvolt succeeds where others have failed, amounting to another unique, if not entirely consistent, addition to the Nintendo eShop.
Alex Seedhouse · May 21, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - This game is basically a remake of the Megaman franchise, but it does it justice. This game is definitly a must for anyone who enjoys platformers, and is definitely worth the 15 dollars you would give for it from the Nintendo e-shop.
Lucy Walcott · Sep 16, 2014 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Azure Striker Gunvolt isn't just a great game; it's something of a revelation, finding an entirely new — and rich — approach to the hardcore-platforming genre. While it makes no secrets of its inspirations, the gameplay itself is unique and anything but superficial comparisons fall away quickly.
Philip J Reed · Sep 14, 2014 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Save for his appearance in Super Smash Bros., Capcom has been ignoring Mega Man for years, but fans have some great options while waiting for news on the Blue Bomber. Azure Striker Gunvolt is a worthwhile adventure, even if it's wrapped in a disposable sci-fi story about telekinetic adepts. Azure Striker Gunvolt delivers some of the fun you remember from older Mega Man titles while injecting a jolt of new gameplay.
Tim Turi · Sep 05, 2014 Reviewed on 3DS - Azure Striker Gunvolt does an excellent job of providing Mega Man-style thrills while changing things up enough to make gameplay feel fresh. Gunvolt’s pace is faster than any Mega Man, but veterans of that franchise will feel right at home with a game that challenges and rewards you for learning patterns and from your own mistakes.
Jeremy Peeples · Sep 02, 2014 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Challenging without being overbearing, fast-paced without being frantic, and just plain fun, Azure Striker Gunvolt draws inspiration from some of the finest games of the 16-bit era while bringing in new elements for a modern generation.
Alex Langley · Sep 01, 2014 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Azure Striker Gunvolt looked like a second coming of Mega Man Zero. It's not, and that's no bad thing; it works on its own terms. However, between a lack of variety and some wild variances in difficulty, you get the impression that IntiCreates needed considerably more time and budget to invest in Gunvolt. It's fun at times, but it never shakes of the sensation of being the first draft of something greater.
Jeremy Parish · Aug 29, 2014 Reviewed on 3DS - Azure Striker Gunvolt is a wonderful return to the technical Mega Man formula found in multiple subfranchises after the "Classic" series ran its course. Between mastering every stage, collecting every jewel, and beating Mighty Gunvolt, Azure packs in more than most platformers on the market. Although there are a few problems that prevent it from achieving true greatness, this shouldn't be missed by any fan of the genre.
Chris Carter · Aug 28, 2014 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - It's enjoyable to be able to breeze through the main game while learning how to wield Gunvolt's abilities with newfound confidence, but considering that most levels can be completed in about ten minutes, and there are just over ten to explore, it's also a bit deflating when the game runs out of new things for you to see.
