- A:WE is a superlative downloadable title. A cheap price tag belies a deep, difficult game that offers some frustration, but much more fun. Even if you've had more than your fill of tower defenses lately, give this one a shot. You might be surprised just how much a shift in perspective can change the feel of a whole genre.
Marshall Honorof · Sep 26, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - We may have been the last to get this, but PSN owners weren't really crying out for yet another tower defense game. Luckily, 11 Bit Studios has crafted something that feels markedly different from the already diverse offerings PlayStation 3 owners can choose from. The lack of online co-op stings given that it's 2012, but what's here is more than enough to justify the purchase price if you like your tower defense played (mostly) solo.
Sam Bishop · Sep 23, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Anomaly: Warzone Earth certainly brings a refreshing splash to the tower defense genre by taking what we’ve already experience in the genre and making gamers play the role of attacker rather than defender. With the varied unit types at your disposal and the commander abilities you can use, it should provide a lot of fun for those hoping to get something new out of this well-established genre.
Fraser Miller · Sep 13, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Anomaly: Warzone Earth was a welcome breath of fresh air for the popular tower defense genre when it released last year, and none of the clever mechanics, gorgeous visuals, and addictive fun were lost during its move to XBLA. This is a must-have for any tower defense fan looking to expand their library, and it's a great first game for any potential newcomers interested in getting in on this incredibly addicting subgenre.
Adam Dodd · Apr 25, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Anomaly: Warzone Earth's fresh perspective on the traditional tower defense setup makes for an exciting entry in the genre, and exploring familiar gameplay from an entirely different angle makes the action even more exciting. It's surprising how much of a difference a few simple tweaks can make toward revitalizing a genre that has long grown stale for some players. Being able to think strategically while under fire is a must in Anomaly: Warzone Earth, and the many twists that pop up along the winding road to victory make this game a winner.
NATHAN MEUNIER · Apr 16, 2012 Reviewed on PC, X360Read full review - The layout design and storyline certainly does not short Anomaly Warzone Earth’s satisfying gameplay. It is a strategy game through and through regardless of what kind of tower game it should be. Introduced initially on PC/Mac and touchscreen devices, Anomaly Warzone Earth does just fine on console and won’t disappoint newcomers to the title or tower defense fanatics.
Kuulei_N · Apr 12, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - These rarely feel like anything meatier than the campaign itself, however, so they might not warrant a new playthrough if you've sampled Anomaly's pleasures before. But if this if your first contact with this unique take on a beloved genre, you'll find several hours' worth of fast-paced strategy waiting for you in Anomaly's agreeable warzone.
Game Trailers · Apr 10, 2012 Reviewed on X360 - I’m not sure if Anomaly: Warzone Earth is the first game to flip the tower defense genre on its head, but for me it’s the first game I’ve experienced that does and on the whole I enjoyed it. What the game lacks in depth it makes up for somewhat in novelty and strategy. Low replayability and a short campaign, however, mean the game won’t hold your attention for as long as I would have liked.
Jason Jasicki · Apr 10, 2012 Reviewed on X360 - It offers a couple of twists on the familiar formula, but more variety and perhaps a few more missions could have pushed it over the top. Even though the included content falls short of some of its most excellent peers, there's still plenty here to keep players entertained for a long time as they prove to the nasty aliens that Earth is the wrong planet to invade.
Jason Venter · Apr 10, 2012 Reviewed on X360 - Anomaly Warzone Earth is the same excellent game for same price on a new platform, with an extra mode to boot. If you've already played the PC or Mac version, the Tactical Trials alone are not necessarily worth repurchasing the game for -- although you can unlock a Commander Avatar outfit if you like those kinds of things. In case you don't have a computer to play games on, this XBLA version of Anomaly Warzone Earth is just as good the original, and one less reason to avoid putting off playing this game.
