- Controls were easy to manage and performance remained steady. Using a flashlight to stun demonic shadow enemies in combination with your guns to finish them off feels smooth. Especially in the chaotic moments, the action sequences present a tense, frantic atmosphere, while the mystery surrounding Bright Falls is genuinely intriguing. This is a psychological thriller that feels just as good now as it did back then.
Alex Orona · Nov 30, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It’s hard to recommend this de-mastered port of Alan Wake on the Nintendo Switch due to how inconsistent the frame rates are and how downgraded and blurry the graphics are. Considering this title is readily available and cheaper on so many different platforms, you are far better off enjoying this classic third-person horror shooter on a PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
Henry Yu · Oct 28, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It’s just yet another unnecessary port that not only doesn’t perform well on such limited hardware, but also doesn’t fit in at all as a game available on a portable system. There’s just no reason for you to bother with it.
Leo Faria · Oct 24, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - There's absolutely no doubt that Alan Wake Remastered looks pretty terrible in places. There have been some severe drawbacks to make this game run competently on the Switch: the swaying of the trees, while hardly a defining feature on paper, actually played a huge part in shaping Alan Wake's visual identity and atmosphere, and now they're static. The game plays exactly as you remember with consistent frame rates throughout and intuitive controls, but if you've played Alan Wake Remastered on a different platform, then you need only apply if you're a hardcore fan of Remedy's creation.
Ollie Reynolds · Oct 21, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It is one of their best games and worth checking out whether you played the original or not. It still carries plenty of jank and questionable design mechanics from that era, but the story and characters excel it past most of its own issues. This is one experience that is worth revisiting or experiencing for the first time.
Ken McKown · Nov 08, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Alan Wake Remastered is really just a game I'm glad exists. This is the nicest-looking, best-realized version of Remedy's 2010 title, and it holds up today just as well as it did when it originally appeared on the Xbox 360.
Tom Mc Shea · Oct 25, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Overlooking issues with Alan’s baby face, general lighting, this remaster has very few issues to cover. I never experienced a crash; I did manage to get stuck in a spot in a bookstore, but jumped my way out. This title is a true example of a game being considered art. The use of loops, light vs darkness themes, the music and score, all whilst building a lovable cast of characters makes it a memorable game. I would consider this remaster a general success with the exception for PC, consoles seem to be running the game with only one serious known issue that should be fixed soon.
Ross Hodge · Oct 23, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Apart from the faces, every aspect of the original has aged beautifully in the time since, and its twisty, American-literature-flavored plot still holds up as well. It would have been nice to see some of Control featured here, and the fact that American Nightmare has been left out is disappointing, but if you’ve never experienced this journey for yourself, it’s a perfect time to jump into the cold waters of Cauldron Lake.
Colin Buchanan · Oct 22, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - It’s still a fun and eerie ride through Bright Falls, and it is enjoyable to see where Remedy came from. If I had played this game when it first came out, I think I would have appreciated it more, but that isn’t to say Alan Wake Remastered isn’t worth your time.
Casey David Muir-Taylor · Oct 13, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Alan Wake offers an exciting story that is delivered on top of a fantastic setting that is packed full of twists, turns and thrilling experiences. Unfortunately, the gameplay between the major story events is incredibly dull and repetitive that you will get more fun out of playing the game on easy so you can get past the boring bits faster.

About the game
Trailers & Screenshots:
Alan Wake Remastered offers the complete experience, with the main game and its two story expansions - The Signal and The Writer - in stunning new 4K visuals. The tense, episodic story is packed with unexpected twists, heart-stopping cliff hangers, and intense bursts of combat where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness. The game’s cutscenes, quirky cast of characters, and the majestic Pacific Northwest vistas have been enhanced for an experience that delivers as much on its visual impact as its unnerving atmosphere.
