- Airoheart is a pale imitation of the game it strives to be and could have benefited from more polish and flair. Unfortunately, any glimmers of potential are buried under flawed design and general mediocrity. The biggest flaw is undoubtedly Airoheart’s lack of identity. In its effort to be Zelda, Airoheart never had a chance to be Airoheart.
Neal Chandran · Oct 25, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Airoheart is one of the better Zelda-likes I have played and working my way through the game has been a trip down memory lane. It borrows so much from the Link to the Past formula, but also adds in plenty of its own ideas and mechanics.
Jake Plant · Oct 17, 2022 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Airoheart feels like the tougher, adult version. Enemies are more relentless, and you’re up against tougher adversaries more quickly. Even tiny enemies you’d assume to be harmless – like wasps, springing out from bushes you strike with your sword – can take a big chunk of your health from you.
Kim Snaith · Oct 13, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Airoheart's, er, heart is in the right place — and it is an okay Zelda clone overall — but the game's got noticeable flaws.
Robert Ramsey · Oct 05, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The music, meanwhile, is far less memorable, consisting of a series of generic and repetitive 16-bit chiptunes that are just kind of there. At the very least, this soundtrack doesn’t get in the way of one’s enjoyment of the gameplay, but it feels like there was a missed opportunity here to integrate audio that could elevate and help shape the overall experience to a greater degree.
Mitch Vogel · Sep 24, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Die in a dungeon and the levels reset, putting the puzzles and enemies back where they were, so there’s punishment here too. You can feel bullied playing Airoheart. The bullying diminishes over time, but it hurts most when you’re finding your feet, giving Airoheart an odd backwards difficulty curve.
Dave Ozzy · Oct 24, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Airoheart is an obtuse yet magical game to delve into. Pixel Heart Studio’s debut is great but often hindered by its imitation. Though the unique aspects are what kept me playing, I just wish there was more originality.
Joshua Thompson · Oct 05, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - It's a perfectly decent take on the Zelda formula, thanks to an overworld populated with engaging side-quests and secrets, an interesting and flexible mana system, and a surprisingly nuanced narrative unafraid to get heavy. Some unforced errors and a lack of polish keep it from reaching its full potential.
Evan Norris · Oct 03, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Airoheart attempts to recreate the magic of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in its own image, only to see itself let down by its painfully average storytelling and lack of direction in its dungeons.
Dylan Blereau · Oct 21, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Una aventura clásica bienintencionada, pero que se ve empañada por un cúmulo de errores y decisiones de diseño difíciles de pasar por alto.
