  • A Gummy’s Life is a game that looks funny when you watch other people play it, but when going through the motions yourself, it turns out to be a very bland and boring mess. While the colorful design may appeal to some, it’s the gameplay that will fall short of your expectations. You lack any semblance of control in the game, the mechanics are too limited, and everything just becomes boring and repetitive very soon.

  • Overall, whilst Gummy’s Life won’t quite bring the thrills of Fall Guys, or provide quite the surprising time sink that Human Fall Flat can as you try to perfect actions through wobbly movement, it isn’t a bad game. It takes what we know from Gang Beasts, adds bots, full cross-play functionality and a ton of maps and leaves the rest to the players. It’s not going to keep you occupied for long, but the kids will get a thrill out of it and it’s not bad for a rainy day should you happen to have some friends who are willing to jump in too.

  • At a price point of $14.99 it’s hard to recommend this game to just about anyone. If there is ever a sale and the price is around $5 it may be worth it for a few laughs, but only if you have enough friends to sit around and make it worthwhile. For your money, there are just much better ways to spend your time than A Gummy’s Life. The  problem isn’t that it’s broken. It’s that A Gummy’s Life just isn’t that much fun.

  • It isn’t a horrible game – it doesn’t have any major flaws or anything; it is a game that is perfect for when you and some friends just want to have a taste of some good fighting game fun. Rag-dolling around, falling over, and tossing each other can lead to some funny, enjoyable experiences. But when isolated to the player and a few bots however, the charm is glazed over by all the flaws of the AI and the online availability issues.

  • Overall, Gummy’s Life is fun for the family but a little difficult to learn to play. The controls are a bit rough for me to learn, so imagine a younger kid trying to get these controls down and getting frustrated with it. Those few things aside, the levels and characters are colorful and engaging, and they give you enough to have a great time.

  • A Gummy's Life is a simple game with a hook that fails to reel in the player base it needs. Still, the element of cross-play shouldn't be overlooked. Gummy diversity is lacking in terms of stats for each and the physics systems support that fact. The variety of stages is decent, but the vibrancy is overblown. However, with a group of friends either online or at home, there might be a quick laugh to be had from this silly little title.

  • To conclude, A Gummy’s Life is not worthy of being compared to Fall Guys, or even Gang Beasts. It is shallow, stupid and the controls are poor. It’s good that it’s sold as a party game with an online element, but sadly for the Gummy’s, there are others – such as Cake Bash – which are still the kings of the Xbox party scene.

  • A Gummy’s Life is frantic battling multiplayer action, but despite numerous game modes it all feels the same. It won’t keep you entertained for long.

  • A Gummy's Life features some interesting stage gimmicks, a bunch of wacky gummy characters, and eight-player multiplayer, but wastes them on spongy controls and unpredictable, unrewarding physics-based combat. The winner is the one who enjoys the most, but that person is likely to be an onlooker chuckling at the randomness on screen.

  • All in all, the game is entirely basic by design which is why the fun’s expiration date was rather quick. The cartoony frenzy and button smasher that is A Gummy’s Life offers instant thrills for groups of friends or family. Sure, the game can be played alone against an army of computer AI – but why would you want to? The fun, however brief, is in the friendly couch competitions.
