- It all works harmoniously, 3D Out Run becoming even more resplendent when viewed with the handheld’s stereoscopic 3D effect – successfully rejuvenating SEGA’s classic for an entirely new generation, while refreshing the experience for those who’ve taken a drive before.
Alex Seedhouse · Apr 06, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - That is a bit of a steep price, but in its own right, it is still a fun game to play, but for that price it may be a bit too much. Still, it is all up to the player. If they’re looking for a good version of Out Run and have a 3DS, this is the best one to have. The 3D really does work very well with the game. Still, I only suggest this for the hardcore 3DS players and Out Run fans.
Drew Leachman · Mar 23, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - 3D Out Run is one of the best titles in the entire Sega 3D Classics catalog, and hands down the best installment in wave 2 thus far. Not only does it offer the most rock-solid gameplay and a fantastic presentation, but it feels historically important to boot. It has its share of issues, namely those surrounding cheap design tricks to prevent players from breezing through the light amount of content and the lack of leaderboard implementation. By and large, though, this is a game that shouldn’t be missed by anyone who appreciates Sega and/or gaming experiences of the late 80s and early 90s.
Bradly Storm · Mar 17, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - It's clear that nothing can ever replace the sublime experience of sitting inside a hulking, moving arcade cabinet, steering wheel shaking and Passing Breeze pumping out of the speakers. But with arcades becoming increasingly rare, the Nintendo 3DS version steps up to the table and makes up for its diminutive size by packing in plenty of extra features, stunning presentation and immaculate controls.
Jonathan Town · Mar 12, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Playing OutRun evokes so many memories it almost brings a tear to your eye. It reminds you how the golden age of arcade gaming is a mere speck in our rear view mirrors now; that quite simply, they don’t make ‘em like this any more. It is about the epitome of arcade cabinet cool, of holidays, of the seaside, of your youth. OutRun is nearly thirty years old, and after numerous attempts, this is unquestionably the best version of Yu Suzuki’s forward-thinking, highly influential vision.
Sean Smith · Mar 23, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - It is fun for the first few minutes, but having to always drive through the same courses in order to reach the different courses can be very tiring. ...The vast amount of options is all here and accounted for, for the most part, and the inclusion of unlockable cars is a very nice surprise to this almost 30 years old game. Users who already love Out Run will adore this game, but due to it lacking variety it can be a bit harder to recommend to other racing enthusiasts given the lack of actual racing and its general laid back gameplay.
Albert Lichi · Mar 22, 2015 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - 3D OutRun is an incredible and affordable way to experience not just a legendary racing game, but a cultural moment in time. Whether you’re flipping your car through heavy traffic or cruising along the beachfront bumping Magical Sound Shower, 3D Out Run is a cool, chill, and infinitely replayable classic.
