- GRIS is a Devolver Digital-published beautiful adventure platformer in which we explore a world full of breathtaking locations while listening to relaxing music.
Alex Sem · Dec 28, 2020 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - GRIS is one of those experiences with close to no text, just simple control reminders that are illustrated via universal icons. The game can be enjoyed by anyone who loves platformer games, regardless of their language.
Isa Muhammad · Jul 20, 2020 Reviewed onRead full review - GRIS is built with care and infused with beauty. Get ready for a breathtaking and challenging experience.
Luisa Aparisi · Apr 18, 2020 Reviewed on AndRead full review - What I expected from GRIS was a solid, beautiful, platformer that could occupy a few hours of my time. What I got from GRIS was quite close to that, but somehow more beautiful than I could have ever considered or expected. If you want to see just how artistic games can get, or if you’re like me and just need a few hours occupied by beauty and platforming, then it’s hard to go wrong with GRIS.
Samuel Guglielmo · Dec 11, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Overall, GRIS is definitely one of the best games you can play on iOS right now. I adored it when I played it on Switch back in December and replaying it twice has been a joy. I wouldn’t really call GRIS replayable even though you will miss some things on your playthrough. These aren’t really essential because the core story that is a three to four hour long experience feels just right. While I already know how to solve the puzzles so I was just blasting through the game again, I will never tire of the stunning art, animations, and audio design in GRIS.
Mikhail Madnani · Aug 27, 2019 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Without a strong mechanical or narrative backbone, GRIS struggles to do much except look really, really nice. I’d love to see more games that look as interesting as this one does, but not if it means making the same kinds of sacrifices. The tradeoff just isn’t worth it.
Campbell Bird · Aug 26, 2019 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - It’s too self-conscious, and too wrapped up in being aesthetically pleasing. It’s too tied to the idea of a neat conclusion. It’s so caught up in the language of recurring motifs and visual continuity that it doesn’t seem to notice when the emotional arc loses clarity and continuity. The overall effect for me ends up being elegant but detached. A slightly muddled compendium of the picturesque sides of grief.
Philippa Warr · Dec 21, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I won’t say that GRIS is bad. It is not even remotely bad. What GRIS is is disappointing. It can’t decide whether or not it wants to be a fun platformer or art piece, and the reality is that it could have been both. There’s a lot of hyperbole out there right now about this being a must play and I have a feeling a lot of people that do will be disappointed by this title.
Anthony Mann · Dec 20, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Gris lasts for up to four hours and although that is not a long time for a game, the lack of level development may make the play feel longer. This doesn’t suggest that the game is boring, but rather that it would benefit from the more elaborate level design. Nonetheless, Gris will give you a unique and beautiful gaming experience that will certainly leave a lasting impression.
Anna Gard · Dec 20, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - As loathe as we are to re-open the old "are video games art?" debate, it's no exaggeration to say that Gris (along with the likes of Journey, Ico, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture) is one of the examples you should roll out to prove that they most definitely are.
